“ Very friendly and welcoming. Acc omodation a bit basic but quite adequate, a bit too basic on the kitchen/cooking facilities. The beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. Not 4 star accomodation but then we didn't expect it for the price we paid.
“ Top Tip: Visit Hersonosis village and Piskipiano (10 minute walk up the hill). Lamb Kleftiko at Taverna Mythos on Sanoudaki St. the best restaurant in Hersonosis (straight down the hill across the main road 200yds on the right opp. closed down Irish pub)

“ I was pleasantly surprised when we got to Palatia Village as the apartment was exactly how it looked in the photos and very clean. The apartment had a balcony with chairs and a table, a good hairdryer in the bathroom, and a tv with 12 channels. The kitchenette was equipped quite well except for no sharp knives for cutting bread or meat. You need to buy your own washing up liquid. The pool is open from 9am-7pm and is very nice with free loungers and umbrellas. Maria and her husband were very helpful and promptly addressed any problems we had and answered our questions about the resort and surrounding areas. The only negative I would say is the restaurant, the food is average at best so the options are cooking in or walking to find somewhere else to eat. Also as has been mentioned before, be aware the apartments are up a hill, about a 15 minute walk down to the supermarket and main town, 20 mins to the beach, we found the walking fine, obviously a bit of a pain at times but if you are walking with someone else and chatting then it goes by quickly. Overall for budget accommodation, very very good!

Top Tip:
We really liked Coast Med (http://www.coastmed-restaurant.com) for the lovely food and friendly service.
Also for excursions we found a really nice place which gave us the information without pressuring us to buy and also when we did book with them gave us their personal number in case anything went wrong. After walking down the hill from Palatia, go straight on past the medical centre then turn left at the scooter/quad bike rental shop and I think its called Coastal Tours on the right hand side of the road past a clothing shop. We recommend the Heraklion-Knossos-Peza excursion for €27.

“ The apartment was great accommodation. One small hiccup was that our reservation was cancelled without our knowledge luckily I have friends in Hersonissos who checked out the place for us even luckier was the fact that they had a room to spare. We put it down to just one of those things. The owners and staff were friendly and very willing to help if needed. A mixture of Belgium's, Dutch and UK ites were staying there so be prepared to mix. The apartments are up a hill which would be difficult for people with mobility problems. But this give you a brisk walk downhill to the beach in about 20 minutes. However beaches in Hersonissos can be crowded but if you are prepared to go a bit further afield there are lots of nice beaches. Ask about them. Overall a good place to stay at the tme of year we went (12 to 24 september 2009)
“ Top Tip: Old Hersonissos, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari have great places to eat in. Hersonissos town is livelier with clubs bars and places to eat. Get some transport for a couple of days and try out the south of the island. Roads and drivers can get a bit interesting though.

“ palatia village apartments deserve their 4 star rating ,george and maria are excellant hosts, they cant do enough for you the complex is spotless the food is excellent and the price is very resonable.their greek night is a must for 20euros each you get food wine and a show of greek dances .many people that go there have been doing so for years and now my hubby and me know why.there is a slight hill to the apartments so some people with walking difficulties may have a problem .best holiday we have had.
“ Top Tip: try the food at the hotel early on in your holiday and i bet you wont eat out much from the hotel. try going to the villages rather than hersonissos town were you can get traditional greek food
