Ideally located, Iris beach offers the best base for those wanting to seek what Malia is all about and yet it is built in a quiet residential area with most of the units having sea view. Relax by the pool bar or in the main bar of the hotel called Oscars with excellent food during the day and delicious cocktails at night. The property consists of 19 Units: 10 Apartments & 9 Studios all with refrigerator, direct dial telephone, private bath with shower, balconies or terraces, kettle, safety deposit boxes (extra charge), A/C(extra charge) and cooking rings.

Features
Facilities at Iris Beach include a swimming pool, billiard table, internet corner, free wifi access. Oscars bar serving delicious breakfast and food all day and very cheap drinks for our guests with really good offers at night, it’s a good spot to start your nightout. Also there are private tv’s where you can play ps3 for free or watch football games or films.
Location
Iris beach is ideally located just 30 meters from the golden, sandy beach of Malia right on the bottom of the bar street where you'll find all of the hottest bars of Malia and everything else that you could possibly want from the resort is close at hand and 20 minutes by car from the International Airport "Nikos Kazantzakis" in Heraklion. Excellent value for money self catering apartments in a central location.

“Inbetweeners”
Malia is the place where they are shooting their new film and Iris beach proudly helped the production making the film. The cast were using some of the rooms for changing and the actors used to come after shooting for few drinks and a game of pool in Oscars bar, almost every night during their stay. I have been staying at these appartments for the past 5 years and this has been the worse year, the bathroom area was not great. We had 3 of us living in the room and anytime we used the water it was meyhem, water was everywhere. I know Malia very well have been going for 10 years and this year was the worse for drainage....This is not necessarly the Owner of the appartment fault. The bathroom was like a swimming pool most days.
On the otherhand the Owners of the appartment are fantastic, they were all very friendly and polite, anything we asked for they provided us with extra towels as the maid did not change after 4 days!
“ Top Tip: Crazy Electra Bar, Squeeze and Pool Bar Crazy. Charlies and Oscars of course. Electra Bar have great staff and hospitality.

All in all a good hotel, everything is very basic but for what we paid for/what we wanted it was good.
Probably one of the best locations in Malia, close to the beach/bars but far enough away that you dont have to listen to music blaring if you have an earlyish night (Anything before 6am=early night)

Top Tip:
-Dont hire a quad bike, you'll just end up getting ripped off
-If you hire a sun lounger make sure you get the cheapest price you can, we argued for 5 minutes with the owner and got them for half the price
-Pay for a taxi rather than getting an organised transfer, ours took over 2 hours and apparently a taxi would have taken around 20 minutes and only been 10 Euros more expensive

The girls working in Oscars bar (adjacent Primavera Hotel's bar) are very friendly! Rooms are basic but very fit for purpose. Rooms are very similar to Primavera hotel rooms. Safe and air conditioning is extra payable per week.
Very near to Bikini beach- just a 2 minute walk (you have to pay for the sunbeds). Also very close to the main strip/McDonalds- a 5 min walk at most.
If you want to stay in Malia then this is as good as any.
“ Top Tip: Sirtaki restaurant is very good and well worth a try. If you want shisha, Big Brother bar (?) is the best place for it in Malia. Right next to Sirtaki. Note that this year (2011) a minimum charge for drinks has been introduced by "The Bar Union of Malia". Mixers 4€, cocktails 6€ ... etc.
