The Hotel was extremely clean and the food choice was excellent. The Staff were also very friendly.
The Room was clean - though a bit basic. It would have been nice to have had Tea/Coffee Making facilities in the room.
I did not find the Bed very comfortable. Very low but on the whole, it was a very enjoyable experience and I would stay again.
“ Top Tip: Close to all local shops/bars and restaurants. Also, Beach was within walking distance. A Taxi Service was provided outside the Hotel entrance.

This is not a 4 star, in the annex's it is not even 2 star, food was fairly good and bar service was v good.
V little entertainment and evenings could only sit round and get drunk!!
One V good point----Gordon's gin was Gordon's!!
Full of Russians! who are not nice!
Not at all wheelchair friendly, although T R do now state this, but too late for us!!
Management claimed hotel was full, when we asked to be moved away from a noisy bunch of Russian youths, but moved a couple we met two days later!!??

The Hotel Orion at Rethymnon was a very pleasant surprise. Previous reviews had suggested that the food was terrible. On the contrary! Every buffet meal was a pleasure and we began to look forward to the Greek and Cretan specialities.
The bar menu was extensive, with many cocktails, aperitives etc., and these were all available to us in generous measures on the all inclusive arrangement.
The staff at this hotel were endlessly obliging and friendly. They made us feel very welcome and were always available to help, for example with flight and transfer confirmations.
The hotel has beautiful gardens and a lovely pool with palm trees, lawns and other trees around it. We swam a lot and the whole ambiance was restful.
I would not recommend the hotel to people who like a lot of organised entertainment as there was just one evening with a music duo. However they were very good and got us doing Greek dancing.
All in all this is a hotel for people who like a restful ambiance, rather than noise and bustle. However, it is situated close to many shops and tavernas and the bus stop for nearby Rethymnon is just outside the gate, so there's no need to feel too quiet. I would recommend the Orion to people like myself who would value it as an oasis of calm enjoyment.
“ Top Tip: The town of Rethymnon is within a few kilometres of the Orion - about 20 minutes by local bus which runs about once every 15 to 30 minutes. It has a lovely old Venetian centre with many restaurants and cafes, a palm lined seafront and a harbour. This makes a very pleasant day out. There is a museum, a fort and more than one mosque, bearing witness of earlier centuries' occupation by Turks and Venetians.
