“ Very clean and comfortable small hotel located conveniently a little away from the bustle of the town which is only a 5 minute walk away. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the pools clean with space to relax.

“ Top Tip: The Fisherman's Place was a beautiful place to eat as was Sandro and Elizabeth in Malia Old Town. Lovely walk along East along the gravel road to Bufos Bay and then a cliff path to the Kalimeri Kriti Hotel and beyond. Elounda and Sitia worth a visit as are the back roads through old villages. Plenty of car and scooter/quad hire places in Sissi so compare prices.

“ Great hotel. Lovely pool and bar area. We had a VIP room with balcony, which provided a small extra area with a sofa and tv. Our room was quite dingy as the sun was never on it. But overall the hotel was very clean and well maintained. We also went for half board - whilst the food was ok, we only ate in the hotel once as the dining area is too bright and canteen like in the evenings! I would probably say this is really a 4 star not a 5 star but would definately recommend to friends and family.

“ Top Tip: We would recommend hiring a car to get to the more rural parts of Crete and to explore the island.

“ I visited Sissi with my girlfriend and stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks from the end of September 2011 on a B&B basis. We are 42 and 30 and were looking for a quiet, relaxed holiday.
Being 'out of season' meant the hotel wasn't full - ideal for our requirements.
We thought the layout of the pool was beautiful, with lovely views back towards the mountains.
The deluxe room we had was spacious, clean and had a nice bathroom and balcony (though the view from this could have been better).
The breakfast offered was decent quality and pretty wide ranging though was the same choice each day.
We drank at the bar during our days around the pool and sometimes before an evening out. The barman was always friendly and polite and service here was good.

“ Top Tip: Sissi has a few beaches to choose from (mostly pebble beaches) but we'd recommend the simple extra walk (only about a mile from the hotel) across the rocks to the sandy bay in front of the large hotel - a sandy beach, a sheltered bay, good swimming and bar facilities.

On the road out of town -
Liefito (The Olive Tree) run by locals George (who looks after the service) and his wife (who does the cooking) - traditional, simple, rustic and meat sourced from their own land.
Neromilos (The Water Mill) next door has friendly service, a nice garden and excellent food.
In the harbour
Lots of choice but we found Avra on the seafront to be the best of the bunch, with Rachel (from the UK) giving great service.
All restaurants give you a free drink at the end of your meal; some more than others!...
The Jolly Roger pub is a friendly place for a beer and all the essential sport and the owners (also from the UK) are superb.
The U-Turn Cafe on the outskirts of town (towards the beaches) does excellent value toasted sandwiches and quality coffee.

“ Lovely clean hotel, staff all very friendly, would have been good to have a bit of entertainment in the hotel at night, however would still recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. Only problem was it took ages (about 2-3 hours from the airport by bus) Only 40mins by taxi.

“ Top Tip: Lovely cafe just at the corner where the glass bottom boat was, think it was called cafe nemo or nero.
