The Maritimo Hotel in Sissi is situated between Heraklion and Lasithi (Crete), right on the stunning beach at a location renowned for its mild weather. Only 100 metres away lies the pictureque and natural harbour of Sissi, a charming fishing village full of local character. This medium size hotel offers a lovely family atmosphere with a great personal service and a lovely pool area. The hotel is set in pretty gardens full of colour and lush planting creating a relaxed environment for a value for money, family holiday on this island.
Getting to the hotel: 45 km east of the international airport of Heraklion (HER).
Local Tips: To the west are the tourist resorts of Hersonissos and Malia with their archaelogical sites, while to the east, there are the popular resorts of Agios Nikolaos, Elounda and the island of Spinalonga.
FACILITIES:This is a real sun, sea and sand holiday – great for sun worshippers and families in need of quality time together!
Food, drink and entertainment: Restaurant with sea view and Taverna/Snack Bar which offers a variety of international, Greek and Cretan specialities using fresh home grown vegetables of the season, and regular Greek night with folk dances and international nights. Also a comfortable Lobby lounge bar overlooking the harbour.
Sport, games and activities: The hotel has 2 swimming pools with spacious sun terraces with sun beds and parasols.
For the kids: High chairs and baby cots, playground, Kid's Club (ages 2 to 12) supervised from 15th June 2012 to 15th September 2012 for 2 hours per day.
Additional: Front office with car rental, excursions, transfers, currency exchange, credit card service, and a porter. House-keeping and medical care. Internet corner (local charge) and free WiFi connection in the public areas.
Room Facilities:
The hotel has 130 spacious guest rooms of which 30 were fully refurbished for summer 2011 most of them overlook the sea while others are situated in the beautiful flower filled gardens.
Room choices are; Standard double room with a sea view or garden view features, bath, balcony or Terrace, radio, fridge, telephone; Superior room with side sea view or pool/garden view features, bath, hair dryer, balcony or terrace, fridge, telephone.
Each features free air-conditioning, direct dial telephone, satellite TV and music, a fridge and a private balcony or terrace.

Plus side, Great pools, stunning location, sea view room a must. Rooms have everything you need, very clean and quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Brilliant to chill out.
Minus, no real sandy beaches closeby. a pebbly one within walking distance, no problem if you hire a car. Food was unappetising for me personally and was soon cold if you didnt have it at 7pm. Breakfast was ok.
However, for the price you wouldn't complain, it was probably cheaper than an apartment! If the food is not to your taste you can eat out, plenty of eating places close by.
“ Top Tip: Anixi bar just to the left of the hotel, well worth a visit. Beautiful view, friendly and fairly reasonable prices.

We were not happy with the room as we had paid extra for a sea view so we asked to be moved and got one in prime position on the sea front - this really made our holiday, so if you're not happy tell them and they will try and help. We found the reception staff very helpful.
The only small problem we had was that we left an article of clothing in our original room so reported it straight away after moving. We checked every day to see if it had turned up in lost property but it was never found so we can only assume that it was thrown away or the maid took it.
Food varied and good but you have got to be prepared to try different dishes. One thing - if there is no dessert you can ask for ice cream but they do not tell you this.
Main pool was crowded most days so we walked along the sea front to the Anixi Apartments and asked if we could use their pool which was lovely and quiet with no children. We bought something from their snack bar every day as a thank you. In fact, we are thinking of going back but this time staying at the Anixi.
