Sofi Beach Studios are situated on the famous beach road of Stalis. They are right on the sandy beach and within easy access of the resort's lively amenities . Guests can take a leisurely stroll down the nearby lane to discover a variety of restaurants, bars and shops. The lively resort of malia is a short taxi journey away. Sofi Studios consists of 15 rooms on 3 floors, all of which are fully equipped with Air Conditioning, a Fridge, open plan kitchenette, shower, safety deposit boxes, wardrobe, and terrace or balcony. Air conditioning & Safety Deposit Boxes are payable locally. The complex offers a lovely pool area and pretty gardens surrounded by lemon trees. Sofi Beach is ideal for young couples and groups.
Features
Sofi Studios offer a small and friendly reception area, swimming pool with pool bar, sun chairs and parasols on the pool free of charge. At the beach sun chairs and parasols are subject to a small local charge.

We had asked for a ground floor room as I use a wheelchair/crutches and find difficulty in stairs. We arrived to find that the actual apartments were down some 20 steep steps from the road (unlit at night). We were allocated a room up a further 2 flights of stairs and were told that they had not received my request for a ground floor room but we could move rooms in a week if we wanted. The maid service leaves much to be desired, we have stayed in Greek Islands for the last 20 years and are used to the loo bins being emptied every day, however at the Sofi we went 4 days! The sheets were changed once during the two weeks and the towels 3 times. The room wasn't cleaned, there was still a ball of fluff/hair on the floor when we left that was there when we arrived.
The apartments are in a wonderful position in Stalis, right on the beautiful beach and in the heart of all the restaurants and bars. We would highly recommend Yiannis Golden heart which served the best food (with free puds and drinks) that we had in the 2 weeks holiday. The Chinese opposite the apartments was also very good, but the best find of the holiday was the Bar Code (out of the apartments turn left and about 40 metres or so) where you could get breakfast 2 sunbeds and umbrella for 2.90euros each. The staff there were very friendly (English chef superb) and would move sunbeds/umbrellas wherever you liked.I would highly recommend this lovely little establishment.
We will return to Stalis but not to The Sofi Beach.
Please be aware of the number of steps just to reach these apartments if you have any walking difficulties. Not at all suitable for those with mobility problems.

“ Top Tip: Take a snorkle! Just in front of the Sofi Beach is a small reef with a wonderful array of fish! Capriccosa restaurant is very good! Artemis is also very good! Trip to Knossos is a must!

We had a fantastic holiday at Sofi with Zak, Maria and their delightful children. I'm almost loathe to tell you about it because I feel I might be giving away a secret that's best kept to myself!
If you're looking for a place to stay that is right on the beach, where you can hear the sound of the sea then look no further. That's what we wanted and that's what we got. On one side the beach and the other side any number of restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
Absolutely no complaint about the servicing of the rooms (which are purely functional). Maria is a star!
The catering facilities are basic (but good enough for simple breakfasts and snack type lunches), which I was glad about, as I then felt no pressure to actually cook! And so we could quite happily, guilt free, eat out every night.
The number of stairs might be a bit of a problem for older guests with less flexible limbs but then Zac is mindful of this and where possible I know tries to put these guests on the ground floor. There would still be some stairs to get up to the road but only about 12.
The pool was lovely but sheltered and so we found that we spent much of the time on the beach as there was a very welcome breeze to keep you cool. Zac's bit of the beach seemed to be less crowded than the rest and although I took a wander from one end to the other I didn't see that there was another part that was "better" than what we had right on our doorstep.
I cannot wait to go back again which I hope will be very soon!

Top Tip:
Take insect spray to deal with mosquitoes. Not just repellents!
We loved the Golden Heart Restaurant about 20m away (turn right as you leave the hotel). Jannis and his wife Eugenie were very welcoming and the amount of food you get will not leave you starving. Sundays they do a suckling pig and they seriously almost do go the whole hog :)
The takeaway (crepes/giros etc) right outside the hotel (with the whistles and bells) is great. Very entertaining, good value and lovely folk that run it.
You must eat at "To Souvlaki" which is in the square opposite the hotel next door to the Chinese. Exceptionally good value and great service!

The Anemi Apartments are located only 50 m from the beach and 100 m from the resort centre. The Anemi Apartments are located only 50 m from the beach, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. The complex has a swimming pool, sun terrace and a restaurant/bar. The apartments are equipped with bathroom/shower, kitchenette, fridge, air conditioning (extra charge) and safety box (extra charge).
“ The hotel staff are very helpful and polite.Maria the cleaner is a lovely lady and was very thorough.Clean towels every day,tho you only got 1 toilet roll then had to provide your own!Food was o.k,and was in a very good location,almost on outskirts of stalis but only 15 mins walk into Malia(we timed it)and next to tavernas and shops.

Popular and highly recommended, the Michelanis Studios are friendly, cozy and well maintained, although officialy a 2 star rating, we believe the standard of the apartments deserves our 3 sun rate.

Comprising a collection of traditional blue and white apartments, the Psaras Apartments are a hidden jewel in the centre of this lovely resort. Offering simple, comfortable accommodation they also have use of a separate pool and bar of a neighbouring property at the back of the complex which leads on to a fantastic sandy beach. The beautiful, newly built Sunhine Studios are set in a well kept garden, and located only a 5 minute walk to the resort center, the beautiful sandy beach and ideally located for the bus stops to Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion.
