My Wife and I had a wondeful stay at Gaia, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were always spotless with clean towels and sheets every other day. Food was very good but could have been slightly warmer (it was not cold though). We would recommend this hotel and will return.

Top Tip: We visited some friends we made in their Taverna Alikes the last one in Tingaki heading towards Maramari, where you are always given a warm welcome and lovely food at very reasonable prices.

The hotel was centrally located, very clean (maids came in every day, made the beds, provided fresh towels etc) & the staff were very friendly & helpful.

Top Tip: If you come out of the hotel, turn right & follow the dirt track to the end. At the end turn left and the beach along this stretch is amazing - very clean & the water is nice & shallow if you have little ones. There is also a fantastic taverna on this road - Ikaros taverna. It's close to the beach and is a must. It is run by a lovely family & the food is fantastic & great value. Lots of choice on the menu whatever your tastes.

After a bad start with a smelly room (dampness) and a flood from the toilet,(possibly the reason for the smell if it was a recurring fault)in the first 36hrs of our holiday we thought that we had made the biggest mistake ever. However with the help of the island rep we got a new room (upgrade) and the holiday was great. We were the only British family in the hotel, the others were mainly Dutch and some Germans but the children still made friends, even if we felt isolated a little. The facilities were good though, the smaller of the 2 main pools was excellent for my 5yr old as at was just a nice depth at the deep end for him to practice swimming and for my elder son to play with inflatable toys. The main pool was much deeper and busier and we struggled at 4pm to get loungers there, so we mainly used the smaller pool. The food was good but on occassion you felt like part of a scrum when the popular food was on as it was all buffet style.

Top Tip: The hotel has no facilities for exchanging travellers cheques but we found a lovely tittle tour company Theokritos Travel, where Louise who is English and her husband Nick who is Greek extremely helpful. We organised all our trips there, hired a car from them and exchanged all our money there. Louise even made a trip to the pharmacy which is in the next village for myself for a cough medicine and she also bought a supply of cream for other tourists who were bitten by the mossies.

Lovely hotel, large room for 3 of us, good food, friendly staff.
The bar area is poor and no relaxing place to sit inside in the evening, just the pool bar, which is too bright and smokey.
No evening entertainment, so everyone seemed to sit around and play cards!
Didn't know it was a German hotel until we were there, but didn't matter too much.

Top Tip: Chopstix Chinese Restaurant in main street was great, good food and friendly service.
Visit to Zia in the mountains is well worth doing, views are beautiful.
