Hotel was exceptional standard. Room was spacious and clean with daily maid service. Alot of steps up to room which could cause a problem for some - but our luggage was portered to our room and the view was lovely. There is a lovely bar terrace with great views onto the bay. The staff are are all lovely - particularly Manolis Snr and Manolis Jnr in the bar - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is buffet type but has suits all tastes. Hotel is about 1 mile out of town but has free shuttle service in and out of molyvos.

Top Tip: Discovered Gallinano restaurant 3 days prior to departure - what a gem ! - Its down on the right just before you enter the harbour in Molyvos. Dont be put off by the entrance or think that its just a pizza place - youll be amazed when you go up the stairs. The place is lovely, the menu extensive, the wine is good and the food is fabulous.Prices are reasonable - considering the quantity and standard and Richard the English owner is skilled in his cooking and also a very nice man. I think we would have eaten there several times had we discovered it sooner. The Relax Bar - next door is also very nice and the live music is very good and not at all imposing - it drifts up into the restaurant.
taxis are very cheap (5 euros) and reliable
Would advise car hire to see how lovely the Island is.
Can also recommend O Gatos for a fantastic tradtional greek meal - its the cantilevered green and cream terraced building about half way up the hill - lovely food - try the pork chop. Again inexpensive. Has lovely views. For out of town (12 euros by taxi from hotel) is Vafios taverna - in Vafios - fantastic tradional greek food - but I would go at weekend as it can be a bit quiet during the week.
I would also recommend Sansibal (back in molyvos)- this is more european in style and a little bit more up market - the food is lovely and contrary to some reports ive read - the portions are not small - more than adequate and the salads are lovely. We ate at the Captains Table in the Harbour - despite it being highly recommended - the food was pricey and not that good. And as you would expect the prices everywhere in the harbour are a little bit hiked up - and there is much better qaulity out of the harbour,

Accomodation was in small appartment blocks and was set in well kept gardens. Rooms were spacious and clean and were serviced on a daily basis with clean towels, etc.

Two swimming pools - one tended to be used by families, other more for couples.

Staff were very friendly and curteous. Special mention for bar staff who were such good fun and went out of their way to create a lovely atmosphere. Mohito cocktails were to die for!

Location perfect - relaxing and quiet in the day.
Would definitely go back to this hotel again.

Top Tip: The food at Gallianos Pizzeria in Molyvos was excellent - everything homemade and of the highest quality. Beef Capaccio, Homemade pasta dishes and desserts such as chocolate and orange cheesecake were to die for. Don't be put off by the downstairs entrance which is a bit dingy - as soon as you get upstairs it is lovely - you will not be dissappointed. Best restaurant on the island.
Only 5 euros to go into Molyvos by taxi at night.

The Sun Rise was a lovely hotel with apartments arranged in small groups. Our room was at the top of all the stairs but we didn't mind this. Disabled facilities exist for those who can not manage the stairs. We booked bed and breakfast only and I'm glad we did. There was a good choice at breakfast but we looked at the dinner choice one night and were not so impressed. However, we much preferred eating out at the local tavernas. We went in the middle of May and the weather was lovely. However, we were the only family there. Most others were couples in their 50s-60s. Our young son didn't seem to mind though and had a great time in the pool and play park. I believe that there may be more of a family presence later in the year. There was no kitchen in our apartment, just a small fridge used as a mini bar, which was restocked every day. It was very handy but a little expensive compared to the price of similar products in the local super market. We felt the shower could have been more powerful. However, overall we had a wonderful time at the Sun Rise and would return. The staff were all very friendly and the sea view amazing. Molivos is certainly the most picturesque place on the island.

Top Tip: I would firmly recommend hiring a car to explore the island. We hired one in advance from Costas (lesvoscarhire.com) for the whole week and we used it every day. I would not have enjoyed having to walk into Molivos as it is a fair distance, though we did see people doing so, and there is a very limited bus service. A highlight for us was a trip to Skala Sikaminias for lunch in a sea front taverna. The surroundings and quality of the food were excellent.

The hotel was in a beautiful situation looking over the sea to Turkey with mountains in the background. The accommodation was very well arranged over a series of appartments which were very pleasant. Each had a terrace which were not overlooked by the ones next door.

Very friendly staff. Breakfast was good. I would certainly like to go back to this hotel

Top Tip: The Taverna Vafios in the village of Mithimna was excellent as was The Captain's Table at the quayside in Molivos.
