Sunshine Hotel

“ Hotel was very nice but there was never anyone on reception. Owners friendly but a little remote and casual. Rooms kept clean but towels only changed once a week. Nice pool with relaxed atmosphere and drinks available. Continental breakfast. Conveniently situated with bus stop and supermarket with friendly staff. Quite nice pebbly beach five minute walk. Need bus for sandy each.

“ Top Tip: Seems quiet on arrival but there is life there. The buses are very useful. Lardos is closest village but is not great. Lefkos is much better and only 5pm away.

“ This is a low-budget hotel for anyone who likes a cheap holiday. The room we had was VERY basic and dated (like a very old fashioned B and B). The bathroom had a shower that you had to hold to wash under and taps that made a horrendous noise everytime you put them on. The door to the room was very difficult to open and didn't lock properly - the maid actually left the door to the room unlocked because of this once.

The bedding was not changed at all the whole time we were there (7 days) and we only had our towels changed once - although the maid did turn down the bedding and wipe the floor in the bathroom (which is swimming with water when you have used the shower) daily.

I was disappointed with the hotel overall as the previous reviews had been good - but I suspect this was largely because the owners are friendly and hospitable and the pool is nice. There are plenty of sun beds, and the bar area/food at the hotel is also reasonable.

As previous reviews have said breakfast is poor - it consists of a bread roll, orange juice and hot drink. There is a supermarket next door and you can buy a more interesting breakfast there, or if you prefer pay to have a cooked one at the hotel. I regretted paying for it.

The nearby beach is OK but not really sandy (pebbles) although sun beds were reasonably priced. Better beaches can be found in Pefkos and Lindos nearby.

Personally - I would not go back here, there isn't much around here and paying for a taxi to Pefkos, Lindos and Lardos each night . Buses were unreliable and not much less than Taxis. My advice is to find a hotel in Pefkos or another resort with more around it and with better rooms!

“ Top Tip: The restaurant opposite the hotel is very good and the staff are very efficient and friendly. Pefkos (a 5 minute Taxi or Bus ride away) is a nice little resort with lots of good restaurants and bars. Lardos is also a nice town but very small - I would recommend Yamas for Cocktails and Valentinos for food. Lindos is also good for evening eating.

Be wary at the hotel - they will charge you 50 euros for air conditioning for the week - you won't survive without it!

“ Our fourth visit and we were not disappointed. The accomodation was basic but spotlessly clean. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The pool and and poolside bar were fantastic. However it was the warm welcome and helpfullness of the proprietor, her family and staff which put the icing on the cake. One example from many was Poppi's making the effort to obtain a particular Greek honey for us and fellow guests so we could try and recreate at home the Greek honey and yogurt topped by almonds which was enjoyed by the pool most afternoons.

“ Top Tip: For a selection of very reasonably priced restaurants providing home cooked food with fresh ingredients and always friendly and efficient service nearby Lardos is hard to beat. Although the beachside restaurant approx 200m is also excellent and competitively priced.

“ This is our second time to this hotel. We love the location and the friendly atmostphere. The restaurant serves great food at a resonable price. The cocktail bar has a relaxed feel about it and serves drinks until you cant drink anymore.
The swimming pool is very clean and has a snack bar which serves food all day long. Breakfast is included but is basic, bread roll and jam, but you can get anything from eggs and toast to english breakfast , you just have to ask and pay a few euros extra, nothing is too much trouble for the owners.

“ Top Tip: The local beach is very near and it is nice, but we stayed around the pool, as it had everything we needed close to us, ie toilets, food and drinks. The bonus for us was the owners sons, Good looking greek guys, especially the bar man who made me very welcome. I had the best time of my life and im sure i will return year after year for this reason
