Excellent

Check-in date:

We had an excellent week at the Agla Hotel, Rhodes Town. Our room was smallish, but had everything one needed. It was clean and comfortable, with a particularly comfortable bed! As the hotel was quiet (we went in the first week of April), they upgraded us to a sea-view room for free, which was a very nice touch. We stayed bed and breakfast and found the breakfasts very nice and typically Greek, which is what we wanted. Probably the best bit about the hotel for us was the hotel staff, who we found to very friendly, genuinely interested in us and also very helpful when required. Overall, we found it an excellent hotel.

Top Tip: There is a taverna just around the corner from the hotel, the Agalma, which found served the best food we had all week, with excellent staff - it was a shame we only found it at the end of the holiday!

excellent location, staff extremely friendly ,polite and helpful. , especially daytime pool bar staff marie and tasso.
only draw back is pool area not in the sun long enough , but beach is just across the road. We went all inclusive , which turned out to be lite all inclusive.
lunch was disappointing every day the choice was omelette, pasta (pesto or bolognaise) and the dish of the day which most days was not very good.
Also the rule about 1 drink per person seemed to be taken too far, i had about an inch of beer in my glass and was told i had to finish it before i could have another.
This was only the night barmen who had said he was just following orders.

All inclusive guests were treated differently , you was not allowed to order from your table -which in my opinion is fine if the same is for everyone. Mike the night barman would leave us waiting up to 10 minutes at the bar with empty glasses while he took a tray of drinks to paying guests.
Paying guests would always be served first and given pint glasses while ai guests would be given smaller glasses. this only happened in the night ,daytime everyone was treated the same by marie and tasso and given frozen pint glasses for the beer.
All inclusive bar finished at ten, after then you paid til 12, mike would rush over then to your table to serve you!
Even so with the few (little) faults i would recommend this hotel and return to it, although i think it could be improved by treating all guests equal, dont do table service in the night. Once food has finished let ALL guests queue at the bar , sitting at a table and being told im not allowed to take your order when the table next to gets served does not create a good impression (unless after 10) remember we are not getting it for free we have pre paid.

Top Tip: check out prices before you go all inclusive , prices outside are not cheap, beer mostly 3.50 e pint or 400ml . Hotel beer was 3 30 pint , spirit measures are 40cl so not quite our double measure (uk). sun lougers on beach are 8e for two.
j &j bar short walk from hotel (past statue and petrol station) beer full pint 2.50 euro cocktails 5-6 tried afew all excellent. Capricci italian restaurant opposite hotel good pasta and pizza.

Small enough for warm personal service.
A bit rigid about TV volume: my elderly mother couldn't hear it and they refused to turn it up!
The staff are lovely and you feel very welcome.
Food is a reasonable quality buffet at an excellent price.
The hotel is in a side street above the beach road.
You need to be on floors 3 or 4 and at the side to get a view of the spectacular Rhodes sunset.
An averagely fit person could walk to the Old Town (unforgettable!) or New Town centre in ten minutes from Hotel Agla.
If you're young and hedonistic a big street of bars is, say, five minutes away; yet there's very little sound seepage at night from the clubs,
Highly recommended.

Top Tip: The Old Town of Rhodes is beautiful.
Hire a car- there's so much to see. Rhodes is bigger than you think
with fantastic views to other islands at Kritinia, where's ther'e a great Folk museum and taverna overlooking the distant castle and inshore islands...

Very effecient, clean and superb staff, from the receptionists, to the breakfast staff and the two evening barmen. Large rooms excellent bathroom (double shower with fitted doors) kettle, and fridge and free air-conditioning. Comfortable reception area and bar, clean pool and sufficient sunbeds and chairs and tables. All in all a very good 4 star hotel.

Top Tip: Coming out of town past the old town practically on the bend, is a lovely beach, nice and sandy (unusual for Rhodes town) and not very busy. Highly recommended
