I expected to get the room with the balcony or at least window with a street view. But it was a basement like loophole. It was ok as we came home just to sleep.

There was no receptionist , so we suppose to look for help in local travel agency to find the person responsible for the hotel when the kay got broken.
But the room was attended every day, new towels ect, loved that.

In Travel republic booking form hotel name was different ( apparently the name was for the company that owns the goup of hotels) so we spend an hour and a half finding out that real name was Atlantida ...

We paid £116 for 7 days... Next time i will do some more research or invest more money in hotel.

Top Tip: 1.If you get here request the room on the 1st or 2nd floor , during the night you cant leave windows opened...
2.If you catch the taxi to airport it will be 12 euro . if you call it will cost 15
3.The best way to see all island is by motobike
4. Best beaches are in Perivola, Kamari beach Sux
5. Best bar Tropical in capital Fira, come friday/saturday after 11pm

We are a family of four (kids aged 8 and 11). We arrived at the apartment only to find there was no one to greet us. We didn't know which apartment we were staying. We waited for about 10 minutes and still no one arrived. I went to 'kamari tour' travel agent to explain the situation. They phoned the owners, and told me that they will be over to meet us outside the apartment in 5 minutes. We waited for a further 20 minutes but still no one came with the keys. We went to the Thomas Cook office nearby. The lady was very helpful and phoned them on our behalf. We were told to wait another 5 minutes. All in all we waited for 2 hours before someone came. Then there was a mix up with the apartment. We had to hand around for another hour before a little girl came with the keys. Needless to say we were so disappointed with this unnecessary delay to our holiday.

Top Tip: The Maroulia apartment was very spacious. The resort was quiet - just what we wanted. The beach was very close by, and there was a mini market just a short walk from the apartment which was handy.

The accommodation itself was fine when we eventually had it allocated to us. However our experience of finding the place was very difficult! There is no central reception area. We called at a local bar who luckily were helpful enough to make a phone call for us and eventually a young primary school age girl on a little bike met us with the news that we were not expected! We insisted we had a booking and she eventually found an appartment block with a name we were not familiar with where an extremely suspicious, unwelcoming and rude proprietor found us on a list and showed us to our appartment. We had by this time been joined by some younger friends who had had a similar experience a couple of days before, who we had called on for help. They were treated by the proprietor as if they were potential squatters. Because we had no baggage with us (having left it in our hire car) while we tried to sort out where we would be staying our suspicious landlord seemed to think we were trying to bring in our friends to squat! At one point while we were preparing to leave to fetch our bags, he manhandled my wife out of the front door. I felt if I had not calmly taken the key, locked my wallet inside the accommodation and left to fetch our bags, we could have been turned away. It took our friends waving their own hotel key labels to convince this ill-mannered man that they had their own places. Thereafter we managed each day to smile and wave to get an occasional more tolerant reaction, including being allowed the remote control for the air conditioning. The final day we were, in similar hostile manner, urged to leave earlier than expected and were encouraged to leave our bags in the laundry room. We again held our ground and left in our own time- an hour earlier than the notice on the door stated. Kamari was great, but we will never return to this accommodation again!

Top Tip: 1. Free wifi outside one of the seafront restaurants.
2. Classico was a great restaurant.
3. The hot climb up to Ancient Thira is well worth the effort, but it closes at 14:30!
4. Watch out for low tiled steps on which it is easy to stub your toes!
