Apartments:

Very clean and tidy with daily change of sheets and towels. minor problem with ants in the bedroom but a kettle of boiling water sorted that.
Kitchen facilities quite sparse only a pan and casserole. Fridge, kettle and A/C ok.
Pool area very nice and clean but very little shade. Bar under utilised and only open from 12.00 till 18.00
GTenerally a very quiet environment.

Location:

As expected the complex was somewhat remote being a good 15 minute walk to the bars and restaurants, the return journey mostly uphillbecoming a bit of a chore after the first week.

All in all value for money and recommended as long as future guests are made aware of the remote location.

“ This is one of the better located hotels in Kamari (off the beaten track yet not too far from the beach/shops). A very friendly environment. Rooms kept spotlessly clean. In all honesty I would say this was more 3 star than 4. We always go self catering, but never cook!! If you are likely to want to cook meals be warned that there are just two electric rings. No oven/microwave etc.

One major downside though. The reception/bar area is only open between midday and 7pm. This in itself is not a problem but when the bar closes there is no access at all to management. So make sure you have your rep's telephone number to hand at all times.

That being said we are going back to Golden Sun next year for a fortnight. It is an absolutely idyllic place and our only regret was booking our apartment for one week.

“ Top Tip: Princes restaurant is an absolute must. Very friendly staff. The bus system is an excellent way to see the island (we will get a car next time for remoter areas though). Thira is a must (we found it to be very similar to Lindos in Rhodes). We would recommend walking down to the harbour circa 585 winding steps!!! and then get the cable car up although you may be more energetic and decide to walk back up!!!

“ Stay was far out from beach and nite life however great pool and hotel service great friendly staff very clear big rooms great views of the sea quite and peaceful recommend this hotel as great.

“ Top Tip: Good restaurant was atmosphere end of the beach however take a trip to pyrgos taverna great Greek menu and views to die for.

“ It was a mission to find the place and when we asked several of the local shops nobody had heard of the hotel. When we tried to call the hotel for directions we could not get connected...wrong phone number on the website?

It was a bit of a walk to the restaurants and beach and slightly isolated so we tended to leave the hotel early in the morning and return late in the evening.

Overall the hotel was clean and tidy but quite basic. No complementary shampoo/conditioner and the television was on the tiny side. We could also hear the people above us moving their chairs around and going to the toilet.

We also needed to check out of the hotel at 9am to catch our flight but the only person in sight was the cleaner who spoke limited english. She said reception would be open at 12pm so we ended up having to leave the room keys with her and hope for the best.
