Adequate but tired accomodation. The sheets were clean but old and thin, some with holes in. Towells could have been changed more regularly as could the sheets. The balconies have very low walls and there is no privacy at all from the guests either side of you. Having said that I would probably stay again if the price was right, at the budget end of the scale.

Top Tip: Lava restaurant was excellent, great fresh food and great service.

The Anemos is a small hotel with approx 12 B&B rooms and 6 (ground floor) self catering room 2 of which have 4 beds.
We stayed in room No.2 a 4 bed s/c room (1 x double 2 x singles). It was spacious with enough room to move about without falling over each other. The furniture was limited, we had to bring the chairs from the small balcony if we all wanted to sit around the table. We used every possible cupboard and drawer and there was just enough storage for our clothes.
The kitchenette was very basic with a one and half ring electric hob sat on a piece of Formica kitchen top (the bit you remove when fitting a sink) which sat on top of the ancient fridge. There hardly any pots and pans, none of the cups and saucers matched not did the glasses (which looked like they had been collected form the local bars) I doubt very much if a meal for 4 could have been cooked in the room.
That was not a problem as we knew it would be basic but not as basic as it turned out. It had a kettle which was enough for us to have a morning cuppa with out locally bought croissants/pastries.
The bathroom was a small "wet-room" so you needed to remove towels and loo roll before showering.
Despite the above the room and entire hotel including the pool was kept extremely clean.
Nikki the owner/operator was pleasant and smilie and understood a lot more English than she let on.
On the whole a very nice stay, we did not expect much from the accommodation and were not disappointed. We ate out mostly at the many taverna and bars within 20 mins walk.
Bear in mind a 3 star in Greece is a 1 or a 2 star anywhere else. So if you want a clean place to sleep and keep your stuff - it's great.
Air conditioning cost 49 euros for 6 days, lock box 10 euros.

Top Tip: There's great 24hr baker about 5 mins walk away, which was next to a breakfast place and the Co-op and the cash machine. The Co-op also has a free car ride back to your apartment/hotel to save your arms when lugging all your shopping and water.

Most taverna's have their own sunbeds and shades on the beach which are free if you buy your drinks from them, which is a bonus. So don't pay 4 euros for beds etc on the really quiet parts of the beach.

Rating the accommodation as average is accurate but feels unfair as it was very reasonable accommodation, ( basic and clean) for a very reasonable price. Accurately described in all respects on the web site and exactly what we wanted and expected.

Would certainly book to stay there if we go again.

Close to the main drag and beach front, 10 -15 minutes, at a leisurely pace.

Top Tip: On the beach front and main road into Perissa there are an excellent range of very reasonably priced, good quality restaurants and bars. We would like to, and hopefully will, return to God's garden, Finikas, Volcano, Xinia.

A trip to the volcano has to be a must. Visitors need to know the first 250 metres are hard going and that it gets much easier after that, otherwise they may be deterred and turn back. It pays to compare prices of trips and boats. (ours cost only 15 euros each compared to some that were very similar for up to 30 euros each)

There are many other beautiful places to visit. The tiny restaurants on the beach side at Akrotiri are lovely although currently the excavations, of the site similar to Pompeii, are closed.

Ia\Oia is wonderful, but take careful note how you enter the town and where you park. It can be easy to become disorientated and bottles of water are a must.

Kamari is an interesting contrast to Perissa, ( although much more expensive, a large lager 4.50 euros compared to approx 2 -2.50 euros in Perissa).

Buy local \house wine when visiting restaurants, red, white and rose are all excellent and so very reasonably priced.

Pyrgos Tavern Restaurant provides fantastic views and reasonably priced meals.

If planning to visit ancient Thira don't go on a windy day, you could literally be blown off your feet.
