I cann't rate the Meduse Hotel as this was not the hotel we were directed to on arrival in Santorini. Apparently as a result of a recent storm it was not opened for the season, however the alternative hotel we were offered, the Thassala, was excellent. I also think as this was early season, beginning of May the location at Kamari was better than the original location at Perivolos which wasn't really open at this time of year.
The Thassala Hotel is adjacent the beach and even though the beach is not great, typically Santorini black stones, the hotel pool is wonderful and within 20m of the sea.
Rooms were nice, not sure what is required for 4*, but simple. Could have done with a few luxuries. However breakfast was magnificent, sitting on the edge of the beach you could eat all you wanted from 08.00 till 12.00. Everything you would required for a European breakfast.
I have read some other reviews and I must say I found staff very friendly and attentive, visitors need to understand that this is still Greece.
Location is good about 15min walking from adjacent town which I would guess becomes very busy in high season, so this if far enough out to be quiet, but easy access to bars, food, shops etc.
A very pleasant stay.
“ Top Tip: A visit to Oia is a must when staying on Santorini

“ Very pleasant and helpful staff on reception, in restaurant and at beach
“ Top Tip: The sunbeds are large and very comfortable. Arranged in 4 rows (8-10 in a row). If you want a bed right next to the sea be sure to reserve one the day before with the beach bed guy.

“ Really pleased with the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and service efficient. Two swimming pools, great restaurant and a very good cocktail bar. The only downside was if you wanted to use the beach facilities. The service was good and food prices reasonable, but you were not able to sit by the ocean as those sunbeds were always reserved for non-residents.
“ Top Tip: Going out on a day sail was excellent and good value for money. If you took the Sunset sail it was a great way to see the sight as you miss it from the side of the Island where the hotel is located. Hiring a car was also very reasonable, you then get to experience the interior as well as the rest of the Island.

This hotel is lovely. The staff are great and it has a really relaxed feel to it. Very classy breakfast area - open air and just across the quiet road to the beach so you can lounge, enjoying your breakfast whilst watching the sun rise above the sea - wonderful.
It's a great place to go and relax and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from with varying budgets. The cheaper places are about 20mins walk away but it's all next to the sea and the walk back is good.
There are plenty of car hire places close by, the ATM is a bit of a walk from the hotel so some people may find it easier to hire cars/quads to get around and see a bit more of the island but the bus service is very good and much cheaper.
“ Top Tip: The Lava restaurant in Perissa is excellent and Popeyes Taverna just outside the hotel is also great - try the mousakka. Cayo does great salads.
