Rena Hotel

“ The hotel is in a great location, staff are friendly and helpful, upgraded us on arrival as they had a spare room without us even asking :0) They did tell us the room would be needed later in our stay and so we would need to move to our booked room then, but i did find the notice a little abrupt and badly communicated. A loud knock at 9.30am with 'go to hotel, i need the room' and no-one there when we got to the door! Once we were all moved though the other room was just as nice and if not preferred. Towel and sheet changes were every day, which as great as that is we felt some days we fancied a lie in without being disturbed! Breakfast is basic, tea, coffee, cereal and toast, but that suited me fine as i mostly just need coffee! My sister came to join us later in the week and we were told she would be charged the same as me, but when it came to checking out they wanted more. They came to a middle agreement which was great but i think this should have been made clear before giving her a room key, after maybe mis-communicating something else. All in all the hotel is clean, friendly, decent sized pool and was ideal for us as basic living accomodation.

“ Top Tip: As you come on to the main beach road from the hotel go right and about 50 yards down is a bar called 'Tranquilo'. Orange cushions and chairs and normally some chilled vibes coming from the place. We went here most evenings at some point, found the staff to be warm and friendly, service excellent, really look after you, good live music, really good prices with amazing food! They give a beautiful atmosphere that is genuine and relaxed, would definately recommend a visit.

“ We asked for the first room allocated to us to be changed because there was no balcony (as requested). Room however was changed to one with a balcony but the view from the balcony was not good - dusty waste ground and half built buildings.

Room was not cleaned daily. (Not even the toilet paper bin).

Had to ask for toilet roll.

Breakfast very poor - sometimes even no toaster provided.

No TV in room.

“ Top Tip: There are lots of great chill out bars and restaurants - spoilt for choice!

“ We found the staff at the hotel very friendly and they went out of their way to help us in every way they could.

They also have a beach restaurant (Waves) which offers the same courtesy plus 15% discount for all guests staying at the hotel, which is a nice gesture, especially if you are on a budget, the food and service is very good too.

“ Top Tip: There is a really good fish restaurant in near Perissa, in Perivolos (next beach along and walkable too) and it is called Perivolos too! You can't miss it, it's on the only section of cobbled-stone road there is. (About 30 metres)

Apparently the fish is caught by by the owner and he also supplies other restaurants too!

Best of all, you would think that would make it expensive, but it is not, in fact, compared to other Greek islands most restaurants are very modestly priced.
