Thera Mare Hotel

“ Lovely clean rooms with regular towel and linen changes. A fantastic pool area where clean beach towels were provided every day. The village centre and beach were about a 20 minute walk away with was ideal for walking off our evening meal.

“ Hotel was classed as "boutique" but was really just a simple Greek hotel. It was a family run affair but there was never anyone around to ask questions, get a drink or organise trips with.

We had booked a twin room but on the 1st night we arrived there apparently were none available. This meant putting a camp bed in a small double room leaving virtually no space to move around. No apologies or compensation of any sort.

Breakfast was a dismal offering - white bread, cheap cornflakes and no fresh fruit. Not good.

On a more postive note - towel were provided on the beach which was a nice touch.

“ Hotel breakfast could have been a bit more adventurous. A continental breakfast with no croissants?!

The pool bar did not advertise that it provided food but apparently it did. However this was just food ordered from the owners rsetaurant and was very limited. They should have provided snacks at the bar as we were not allowed to bring our own food to eat.

The owners of the hotel seemed to shout at each other all the time - we did not know if they were actually arguing but it made for an uncomfortable atmosphere.

The bathroom was more of a "wet room" as there was no shower curtain and the shower head sprayed into the bathroom rather than in to the shower basin. Hence the floor of the bathroom was always flooded.

“ Hotel was excellent everything very clean with lovely white fluffy towels changed daily in the room. Towels for use round the pool also provided daily.

The owners/staff were very helpful and could not do enough for you. Fairly quiet the week we were there as it was the start of the season.

Although the beach was a 10min walk away the hotel were willing to take you there in
the hotel mini bus. They also have a restaurant opposite the beach which they will run you to.

My only negative comment is that the pool should have depth markings on it.

“ Top Tip: Dorians bar about 5 - 10 mins walk from the hotel towards the town centre was very
good. Owner has been there since 1983 and the setting is very tranquil open all day.
Also the 24 hour bakery Santa Irini is excellent.

The hotels restaurant the Forum which is down near the beach is very good but so are many of the other restaurants. We never had a bad meal and food was greek.
