Having had self-drive car hire from the airport the main problem was finding the hotel. However this exercise proved beneficial in both meeting locals and quick acquaintance with the local geography. Once registered at the hotel the remainder of the holiday was, well, GREAT.
The resort allowed you great flexibility from noise and young set on the beach to just chilling out - your choice!

Top Tip: We were spoiled for good restaurants and bars, and the island trips based on the Caldera whether self-drive or by boat were a big hit.

Salty Beach was lovely and very clean with a nice pool area and in a good location. The lady that looks after the apartments cleaned them every day and was very helpful. The only problem we found which actually ruined our holiday to some extent was the VERY loud music that came from JoJos bar which was infront of the apartments. Between 2pm and 8pm it became a beach day club and the music was just too loud. Having said that it did mean that we have the pool area to ourselves most days as most people could not lie there whilst the music was playing.

Hotel Salty beach was made up of 11 self catering apartments. Our apartment was bigger than average which was a nice surprise, clean but with the usual basic 2 ring cooker which makes it impossible to cook anything. It was possible however to prepare drinks and breakfast which suited us just fine.
The hotel is at the back of a beach bar which plays loud music from 10am until 8pm in the evening making it impossible to relax by the pool or on the beach in front. We had to go out everyday to get away fro the noise. The manager was apologetic but explained that allthough the same person owned both the bar and the hotel, the bar was rented out and she was unable to influence them to lower the volume of the music.

Top Tip: Get some transport and explore the island, it has lots of nice places, beaches are over rated as they are pebble beaches - take your rubber shoes everywhere. Visit the Wave bar at Vilhada - expensive but beautifull especially at the end of the day to watch the sun go down. Go to the resaurants away from the sea front, they are cheaper. Go to Akritiri and eat on the beach, you can get dinner for 2 for 12-15 euros.

The pool was dirty and we were told we could not use it but that it would be fixed in a couple of days.
It was never fixed. In fact it was emptied and left empty. Lot's of unhappy customers.

Our apartment was never dusted - you could write in it.

Top Tip: Go to God's kitchen for food. Gorgeous food, and people.

The hotel is not 4 star, just about a 3 star. It is immaculately clean, but the pool area could do with new loungers and umbrellas as the current ones are tatty.

Top Tip: The "Gods Garden" restaurant just off the beach road had an excellent selection of very good quality food.
