Filoxenia Tholos Apartments

“ This was our first ever visit to Greece and overall it was an excellent holiday.

The hotel is run by a lovely Greek family who were very kind and helpful and made you feel welcome. The room itself was basic, however it was very spacious and was cleaned daily. Air-conditioning is available and in my opinion necessary, however it is at an extra cost of about 6 euros per day so make sure you budget for that.

The hotel grounds were well looked after and the two large swimming pools were great! There was always enough sun-loungers as it was never particularly busy, which is what we had hoped. There are several 'games' around the grounds including mini-golf and giant chess which are fun to play, but these also come at an extra small cost.

The only negative comment I would leave about the hotel, was the bar/restaurant. The bar itself was sufficient and had a wide variety of both soft and alcoholic drinks, however the food was very basic/frozen, there was not much choice, and it was actually fairly expensive.

Tholos itself is fairly small but has several bars and restaurants which is good. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the nearest beach which although is mainly shingle, is very beautiful. There are also various water sports available on the beach which are particularly fun. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which goes to Rhodes Town, Faliraki and several other places on the island which is very handy and a lot cheaper than taxis.

I would definitely recommend this hotel particularly for older people and couples.

“ Top Tip: 'Mike's Bar' is absolutely brilliant and after eating there once we ate there almost every night of our holiday! Mike and his wife are genuinely lovely and often gave us free drinks after our meal. The food is gorgeous as it is always fresh and is cooked by a traditional Greek chef. There is a lot of choice on the menu, both Greek and English dishes and they are very reasonably priced. There is a wide variety of cocktails too!
