“ This budget hotel is great for a cheap stay in Reykjavik as it is very clean and the continental breakfast is quite substantial. It is not suitable for people with walking difficulties as it is approximately a 25 minute walk into central Reykjavik. The standard rooms are very small but the one we had was at the front of the hotel on the fifth floor and the views of the sea and mountains was spectacular.
“ Top Tip: Do all your trips with Gateway To Iceland (GTI) we did and they were absolutely fantastic, they turn a city break in Reykjavik into an adventure holiday. We did the Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon, New Years Eve Ice & Fire Special and The Northern Lights tours and yes we did see the Northern Lights!!!!!!! GTI do most of their tours in minibuses and not coach so you can get to places that the big tour buses cannot get in. Buy your snacks & booze at the liquor & convenient stores by hotel, turn left out of hotel & it's about 100 yds.

You get what you pay for at the Cabin Hotel and in expensive Reykjavik this was a welcome break. The economy room I was in was very small and basic, but clean and had a good shower (though small) and a TV with BBC News.
We booked a twin room as it was cheaper than the double hoping that we could push the beds together, but this was not possible as the beds were fixed.
Breakfast buffet was simple, but filling and the staff were very helpful. I would stay again.
“ Top Tip: Be aware it is a 25 minute walk to the city center or a 10 min journey on the no 12 bus (350 ISK)

“ The room, though quite small, was clean and adequate with lovely sea view as promised. The breakfast was lovely - lots of choice; and the option of a salad bar with soup and a hot meal all day til 9pm was very convenient and tasty. The reception staff were very efficient and so helpful at booking up excursions and airport transfers etc. One small improvement would have been larger cups for tea/coffee to save so many re-fills!

“ I booked this for my husbands 40th birthday and was really happy, we were offered a historical room, which was lovely, small but perfectly formed! The hotel staff were brilliant, they were so polite and booked us a couple of trips and recommended and booked restaurants for us.

This hotel is located just a five minute drive for the city centre (or approx 20 minute walk) and also next to the Reykjavik city airport, which services domestic flights. Many of our rooms were completely renovated in the spring of 2011, and many now feature descriptions of some of the natural wonders that make Iceland so unique: water, geothermal energy, moss, lava, and glaciers. These rooms feature extra information and artwork inspired by this nature. A low rise purpose-built building, the hotel is a mixture of grey, yellow and white painted brickwork. The property is a good quality hotel and within easy reach of the sights of Reykjavik. It is also the first stop for the airport bus "Flybus" and well-located for those wishing to explore other areas outside Reykjavik. © Donvand Limited 2012

“ As budget hotels go, this one is a diamond. Clean, tidy and with constant free tea and coffee and a surprisingly wide continental breakfast selection, one couldn't ask for more. The staff are charmingly informal yet attentive and efficient. We booked what we thought was a room for 3 people and found ourselves allocated a separate 4-bedroom house! A marvellous find!
