“ The River Hotel was very nice and staff were friendly and helpful. Tea & coffee could be ordered from the reception and this was complimentary. The bar was a little disappointing as it was tiny, so you could not spend time in there.8.0 Great

“ Its an ideal base for exploring Florence but it is quite a walk to the City Centre. Rooms are basic but kept very clean with sheets changed every other day. Fresh towels each day. Breakfast was basic. The staff were very friendly and help full always a friendly welcome and gave us loads of information which was good.
“ Top Tip: Keep out of the main area in Florence go towards Santa Crotcher where there are some good restaurants that are a lot cheaper and good value for money. Look where the Itailian's eat and you will not go wrong.

The River Hotel was very nice and staff were friendly and helpful. Tea & coffee could be ordered from the reception and this was complimentary. The bar was a little disappointing as it was tiny, so you could not spend time in there. We did not see many other guests, so if you are hoping to socialize, this may not be the hotel for you. The breakfast was good and you could eat in the breakfast room or in a bright and airy conservatory. You could order cappuccino or pots of tea from the waitress if you did not want the filter coffee or fruity teas provided on the counter. The room we had was clean and had a refridgerated mini bar, so useful to keep your water cool.
It took about 10 minutes to walk to restaurants in the Piazza Santa Croce and about 20 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio from the hotel. The railway station was approximately 30 minutes walk away. If you plan to walk with your pull along suitcase, be aware there are many old cobbled streets. The train journey was 15 euro for 2 adults from Pisa Airport to Firenze Centrale. The self service ticket machines had the option for English and were easy to use.
We took a train to Pisa Centrale to visit the leaning tower on one of the days and this was very easy to do, as the tower was straight down the central road from the station and you were there in 10 minutes. It cost 18 euro each to climb to the top of leaning tower and you were allocated a time slot, so you could have to wait over an hour for the privilage. The train journey from Pisa to Florence ('Firenze') was 60 minutes and the trains were clean and comfortable.
“ Top Tip: Although the roof terrace was nice, it was rather small, just a balcony with four small round tables. It was not the serene atmosphere I was expecting, as the weir was quite noisy. The view was very nice and you could even see the Barletti and Boboli Gardens on the other side of the river and if you really looked carefully, you could see the 'green' statue of David on the Piazzale Michelangiolo, peering out from within the trees!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel River. The hotel is just out of the biz of the town and the traffic making it nice and quiet.
The hotel is comfortable and modern with free wifi which was good. Stayed B&B which had a good choice and variety. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful, even finding a needle and thread for me.
Enjoyed staying here and would certainly stay again. I have already recommended the hotel to friends.
“ Top Tip: Don't always turn right when you come out this hotel and walk along the river, turn left and left again and enter the center from a different way. We found a whole vibrant area of young people drinking wine around all the wine bars, all very cultured.
