I stayed here with my mother this summer and had a lovely time. The hotel is above all excellent value for money, peaceful, clean and homely. The staff have a quirky way of making you feel welcome with lots of darlings and kissing of hands for the ladies! Previous reviewers complain of noise. Yes, a small local train passes by every half hour and a rather unmusical church bell clangs the hour, but the pool and garden are otherwise blissfully tranquil. The noise adverse however should avoid Campania altogether anyway, as traffic horns and people shouting abound as normality.
We changed our booking to half board as we both had tummy issues and local restaurants are not cheap. As commented by another reviewer, I concur that foodie would probably find the offering somewhat bland, but this actually suited us.
Location wise, the hotel doesn't offer sea views and is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the beach - which isn't of Sardinian standards - its an elevator ride down and tiny. Also, if you don't want to be relegated to a small strip of concrete you have to pay 5 euros a day to access it. On the other side however, its 2 minutes and 5 minutes respectively to the bus and train stops and thereby ideal for exploring Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Pompeii, etc.
The hotel and locality are ideally suited to middle aged - older tourists. Although distances and vertical nature of the local terrain did make it strenuous for my 73 year old mother. The hotel had several Italian family staying for a few days at a time with very young children. However, I would not recommend it for older children to young people. The hotel is small in a quiet residential area, so not much scope for letting off steam free from tuts, ssshhhes, and stern looks of disapproval! Better head for Sorrento for that, or better still Sardinia or Rimini.

Top Tip: Italy is not a cheap holiday destination and this area is expensive. There are however usually 'tourist' and 'local' options for most services with a considerable difference in price. The most expensive and appealing trips are those by boat around the peninsular and to Capri. However, be prepared to have to pay a lot more in addition to the base fare, to really see all the attractions that you can access via them. Positano, which we got to by bus plus a steep walk down to the seaside and then returned from on the 3pm boat (slow but the best for views and a swim along the way!) is a must. We generally ate sandwiches for lunch and stocked up on plenty of icetea to keep us hydrated. Sant'Angello has an excellent Sma Supermarket for these things, just round the corner from the post office. A bit further up from this is a good place for an ice cream too.

The room was very basic. The breakfast was appalling one plate of ham and cheese for ALL guests (and it wasnt very pleasant. It had clearly been left out for a while as it was quite slimy!!) A few stalish bread rolls and that was it! I have travelled extensively throughout Italy and this had to be the worst!!!. The pool didnt have any water in it so was unusable. The aircon was charged at 5 euros a night. Bed extremely hard and creaky! i could go on and on but I wont!!!

Top Tip: The restaurant 'Lantern' in Sorrento was fabulous!!!!

The only problem with this hotel they have school parties staying 1/2 nights very noisy when teenage school children from all nations keep running up and down the stairs at all hours of the night on 2 occasions we complained to the hotel manager nothing was done until we advised him that we would call the local police then he decided to act apart from that the hotel was very clean rooms cleaned every morning food at hotel was excellent (try the fish best i have ever tasted) ideal for families near station but would not recommend for couples without children

For a reasonably priced break this hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly & helpful, there was 24 hour service, the overall cleanliness was good they have a small swimiing pool with ample seating and although the breakfast was pretty basic it was adequate and served with a smile. All in all we couldn't fault this hotel and felt we got over and above what we paid for.

Top Tip: There was a resturaunt that was excellent but unfortuanately cannot remember the name! It is on the beach which is an ( Italian) short walk from the hotel if you turn left outside the hotel with outside tables with a fantastic view over the sea.
