Good points - this hotel was good for me as a first time traveller to Rome as it was 5 mins from the station on a main street so easy to find, in a good area near the station rather than the dodgy ones you will probably have heard about! Its 10mins walk from the Colosseum and other Roman sights, about 20 mins to Vatican but then that is not in the centre so worth the compromise in my opinion particularly as it was 30 degrees and more sun exposure :) Also near a couple of irish bars tucked away, 24hr reception and brekkie til 10 which suited me.
Bad points - my room had little natural light as the window backed onto a sort of utility shaft area, there were only 3 naff italian channels on tv, there is only 1 lift (staircase for emergencies only) which is quite annoying when in a hurry for brekkie, particularly as its in the reception area where there are about 8-10 tables. There is no dining area, its more a b n b to be honest.
“ Top Tip: The Fiddlers Elbow Irish bar, if you turn right out of the hotel then right again, up the steps, continue 2 streets and turn left up 50 yards or so - a hidden gem!

Third time that we have stayed at this hotel and glad to see that atandards have not dropped.
Very comfortable rooms, friendly staff with good command of English. Breakfast is great and always replenished when something runs out.
As regards location, it's perfect. Bus stops just outside, the fori and colesseo easily walkable and Termini and Cavour Metro again very close.
Tips
Get yourself a combined 3 day or 1 week combined metro/bus ticket from any Tabacchi and just go anywhere very cheaply. Don't forget to validate your ticket on the first journey.
Visit Baires Argentine restaurant at the bottom, on the right of via Cavour.
Visit Gallo Matto directly opposite Hotel Valle, you'll have a great time and the piano player is something to behold.
“ Top Tip: If you want tickets for concerts, museums etc, go to Orbis on via Agostino Depretis, directly opposite San Maria Maggiore.

We were delighted with the hotel, considering the price we had expected things to be very basic and as long as we got a good nights sleep we would be content.
However we found the hotel to be very well located for all the sights, very well cared for. Our room was thoroughly cleaned ,bedding and towels changed daily by friendly helpful staff.
The breakfast area is small but there was a very good choice and plenty of food.
Air conditioning in our room worked perfectly, and plenty of room in the fridge for us to bring in our own drinks and keep them cool.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends as a great place to stay for discovering Rome.
“
Top Tip:
We were able to "stroll" to the Vatican from this hotel in less than an hour.
Found lovely restaurants in Trastavere and Piazza Navona.
Don't miss the Botanical gardens, an oasis in the city and it has amazing views.

“ Very nice hotel and even though we booked a standard room our request for a non-smoking room with double bed was met. Found it a bit strange that there is no actual dining room as such, just an eating area but that's a minor point. Very comfortable and clean and would recommend. Especially happy with the deep bath!
“ Top Tip: In a great location for all the sights - can't pick out one particular place but don't be talked into the first place you are invited to by the persistent waiters outside!

Top Tip:
Very near to Termini Station which makes all of Rome's sights very accessable (for 4 euro's per day)..as well as this, "Ancient Rome" is within walking distance.
For something different, we would recommend a visit to "The Ice Bar", minutes from Cavour Station.
