The Knights Court Hostel is a great choice for the budget conscious traveller. The hotel offers all guests warmth, charm and friendly staff. It is the ideal base from which to explore one of the newest and trendiest destinations in Eastern Europe. Pubs, restaurants and shops are all within walking distance and the old city is only 15 minutes stroll away. Rooms are basically equipped but are clean, bright and have all the comfort that you need when using a hotel simply as a base. All-in-all this is a great value for money hotel.

“ Riga is much more expensive than one would expect. Even though it is part of the EU, nowhere in the old town will accept Euros and the Latvian Lat is very strong against the pound. Taxi drivers and restaurants will rip off tourists at every available opportunity and the old town is nowhere near as nice as Prague or Budapest. The buildings look worn and dirty and even the museums, galleries and cathedrals charge a fortune for entry. They need to spend some serious money renovating and modernising the city before it becomes worth the prices they charge.

This new hotel with its wide range of services, comprises 161 rooms and offers a high standard of service and friendly staff. It features 6 modern conference rooms, an internet cafe, the Firita restaurant, the trendy Bar 21, the Admirals Club and a renowned branch of the Latvian beauty salon chain. The air-conditioned foyer includes a 24-hour reception, a hotel safe and lift access. In addition, a laundry service is also offered. There are plenty of parking spaces available for those arriving by car.

Located by the Arena Riga and Olympic Sports Centre, the Skanste Hotel offers good value for money accommodation. The Old Town (historical part of Riga) is approximately 5 minutes drive from hotel or a 25 minutes stroll. Rooms are of a good size and standard, decorated in a simple Scandinavian style, all offer clean and comfortable accommodation. Rooms and bathrooms offer all the facilites expected of this category of hotel. A modern purpose built hotel. “ A nice clean and modern hotel but with few facitlites except for the breakfast room. My room was a nice size on the first floor. Each room has two beds and a fridge (useful but unusual for hotel rooms).
