  • one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in whilst holidaying in Malta/gozo. A definite recommendation , and would stay there again. The staff were all very pleasant and polite and the room very comfortable. whilst only booked bed and breakfast we did have a couple of evening meals at the calypso and thoroughly enjoyed them. looking forward to a return .

The hotel is advertised as a 4 star, but I do not feel it deserves that rating. I have been in a lot of 3 star and even some 2 star hotels that are the same or better.
Also, the hotel presents itself as a beach front property. That is a joke. Their definition of a beach is about an 10 meter stretch of pebbles with a bit of sand thrown in.
Another word of caution, if booking here make sure of the type of room you will be getting. I was led to believe that I was booking a sea facing room with a double bed. What I ended up with was a room with twin beds(which they later joined together to make a 'double') that was facing a dilapidated building at the back of the hotel with a angular hint of sea.(apparently the sea view with my booking was not a confirmation but a possibility!)

Top Tip: Gripes about the hotel aside, Marsalforn, and Gozo even as a holiday location is fantastic. Lots of sights to see and the snorkeling is amazing with no shortage of locations to choose from. If you want to just chill out and relax this is the place to go.
As far as restaurants go I would recommend Pebbles and also Otter's. Both served us beautiful food and the staff was great. Special mention to Freddy at Pebbles.....this guy is fantastic and makes one feel very welcome and comfortable.

A newly refurbished hotel, it was clean but stark with no character. Just the basics provided. Staff very friendly (as are all Gozatans) Not sure how it achieved 4*! Maybe a steady 3*. Marsalforn is not a pretty resort/village. If going to Gozo, chose Xlendi. Also, we checked out La Cenc Hotel, the top island 5* for future visits. We had lunch there and my wife violently ill with sickness and diahorrea 2 hours later. For all that we had a good holiday.

Top Tip: Go to Xlendi.
