Gran Royal Lagoon Hotel

“ This hotel is very cheap for its location, and the cost even included a small breakfast, so for that reason I have rated it "above average". You also get a free security deposit box in your bedroom. However it was a noisy room and the man on reception was quite rude. If you are on a budget it is a good choice, but I don't think I would have wanted to stay there for a long time, maybe just a night or two.

Another thing worth bearing in mind is, if you need internet and don't have a laptop with you it is about 2km to the nearest "Plaza" where they have internet (as the hotel doesn't have a computer for clients), and there it was v expensive compared to every internet place I used in Mexico.

“ Top Tip: Always haggle with the taxi drivers. In the hotel zone they generally charge around double the fare, and when they start quoting in dollars it is usually a sign that they are going to overcharge as they think you are a mug tourist. Taxis flagged down on the road are usually a lot cheaper than ones parked on taxi ranks for some reason (subject to your haggling skills of course!) If you can speak any Spanish and pay in pesos you get the best deals ;o)
