Located on the outskirts of Kinross, just off the M90, The Muirs Inn is a picturesque listed building dating back to the 1800s. It was originally a small farmhouse where the blacksmith of the area lived and serviced travellers' horses, carts and carriages. At that time the house was just a small, single level cottage of croft type design - this is now the Mash Tun public bar. Next to the cottage was a byre which now houses the Wee Still Lounge. Later, the original building was extended by the addition of another floor above for accommodation along with a single storey extension for use as stables. These in turn became a garage and today the Maltings and Cellar Food Parlour Rooms occupy the space. Around 1900 the property became a small hotel where the owners initially served drink and refreshments through the living room window to mounted horse riders outside.
