Rivoli Hotel

“ Firstly I wouldn't recommend wheelchair users or families with young children who use strollers/buggys to stay at this hotel as it's not accessible. We stayed here for 7 nights and I am sure that my back has suffered as a result as everytime we went out of the hotel or came into the hotel both myself and my husband had to carry our son in his stroller into/out of the hotel! We were never offered help from either front house security or any of the porters/concierge!


We were thankful that we only booked bed and breakfast here and not half board as breakfast although was edible was very boring. The same food every single day. However, the breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are expecting a chef to be standing there flipping fresh pancakes or making fresh eggs infront of you then you would have been very disappointed! Hot food was served from the kitchens into 'hot serving dishes for you to help yourself!


The main reason why I booked this particular hotel was because of the outdoor swimming pool. Both myself and my husband love swimming and were very disappointed as the swimming pool was very dirty (pigeons had taken up residence) thus we didn't use it!


Maybe it was once classed a 4 star hotel but I wouldn't class it as a 4 star hotel now. In the reception area all the display cabinets were empty. Think they had little shops within the hotel at one time.


The room we stayed in was very average. The carpet was so dirty/soiled and that bothered us as we had our 2 year old son with us! The decor was very old fashioned. The bathroom was also in need of refurbishment. The shower leaked water which made it impossible to have a comfortable shower plus the towels were very old and tatty. Quality of the television was very poor and we could only get a few channels. One morning we woke up to no water to have a shower and the hotel were very slow in addressing this problem as it lasted most of the day!


With the exception of about 2 reception staff nobody else spoke English so you had to know french or arabic. Have to say that the reception staff were very nice in particular one gentleman. Oh and the room cleaner was very nice too and did a brill job under the circumstances!


Wish the hotel would have had more tourist information on what to do in Casablanca. If I didn't ask I wouldn't have been given at least a local map which were kept behind and under the reception desk! You can exchange currency at the hotel of which we found offered the best rate in the area!


The location I felt was good. A small walk/taxi ride (petit taxis are so cheap) to Mosque Hassan 11 and the lovely beach. We were around the corner from the markets (was driving my husband mad as I'd pop there nearly everyday!).

“ Top Tip: On the plus sign the location of the hotel is good........it is a good walk away from Mosque Hassan 11 or the beach. You could possibly walk to the mosque but I'd take a petit taxi to the beach. Both are beautiful places to visit and petit taxis are very cheap as they are run on meters! The hotel itself is near the market. If you love shopping like me you will love it there and be drawn in as it's full of culture. The whole area is very cultured. Please dress modestly or you will feel out of place! Plenty places to eat locally including Pizza hut, Kentucky fried chicken and McDonalds!
