In this Riad it is like staying with a local family in the middle of a local area. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is perfect for relaxing with a book and time to take in the local noise and bustle. It is the perfect end to a busy day shopping. If you want to see the real marrakech then this is the place to go.
In August it is very hot and there is nowhere to cool down unless in your room. It is possible to walk to many interesting areas and the best part was seeing the local people going about their daily life. The market 5 mins walk away is for locals and the fruit is wonderful. In August it is very hot and as it is Rammadam there are some changes to the daily routine. About 7.30 everyone stops to eat so you need to plan your evening around this.
Taxis are very easy to find to get you wherever you need to go but agree your price before getting into the taxi. This is all part of the friendly bartering which is part of the experience.

Top Tip: The local market is very close and perfect for fruit that can be peeled. If you like bananas they are warm and sweet in the sun
A walk to the Jardin Majorelle is a must. The journey takes you past a European style supermarket that even sells alcohol if you need it; but the gardens are the best part

If you want to really experiance Marrakech then this is the riad to stay at. From the start we were treated very well, the staff ( all women ) were really lovely. Most spoke good English but it does help if you brush up on your French or Arabic. Highly reccomend eating at least one night at this riad the food was fantastic best cous cous we ate. Just give the ladies about a days notice. This riad was located in a very local area and gives you a real experiance of the Marrakech way of life, be sure to do airport transfer to this riad, no taxi driver knows where it is and you find yourself getting stung by young lads who lead you on a merry dance then demand a big tip for taking you to the front door, not a good way to start a holiday. It is a good idea if you are female to cover up your legs and arms to be respectful as this is in a very traditional area and you just feel less conspicuous. Really comfy bed and just the right room temperature. good shower and a gorgous roof terrace to sit and chill out on. We felt really safe and welcome here.

Top Tip: if you like a drink then take some wine with you from duty free as it is very hard to get hold of alcohol.
take a good pair of walking shoes as walking is the easiest mode of transport. its not far from town but you do need to go through the souks, so take your maps.
stall number one for food on the square in the evening is great and good value. local food and lots of it. orange jiuce is fab and we liked the nous nous coffees.

We had a really nice time in Dar Tuscia and really appreciate our stay.

The Ryad is in the middle of the medina, and have a lot of charisma.

People are lovely and bedrooms really comfortable.

Dar Tuscia is an excellent riad, but at the north end of Marrakech - about 20 to 25 minutes walk from the souks and the main town square. Taxis can be cheap (after some tough bargaining) but few taxi drivers even knew where Bab Yacout (the nearest town "gate" to Dar Tuscia) was. The riad itself is delightful, and the staff are very attentive and helpful. The air-conditioning in our room was a great relief from the 45C mid-afternoon outdoor temperatures during our visit. Dar Tuscia is a great place for couples to stay.

Top Tip: Make sure that you have a map (a free tourist street map will do) and a compass. It is very easy to get lost in the maze of streets - especially in the souks.
Most restaurants around Jamaa Al Fna square are fine, but our best (rather more expensive) meal was at Cafe Arabe (which is also licensed to sell alcohol).
At night Jamaa Al Fna fills out with food stalls - choose carefully - we ate well at one and got ill from another. The general rules of finding food when travelling apply - if no-one else is eating there don't be the first, and watch for where local people are enjoying the food and check-out those places.
Check carefully the opening days and hours for any museum or "palais" you intend to visit - perhaps ask the riad staff to telephone for you. Local museums are closed Tuesdays, and most such historic "attractions" are open for about 2 hours in the morning and then again for another couple of hours from mid-afternoon.
Walk over to see the Jardin Marjorelle in the new town - it is beautiful - we went there twice!
A trip up into the Atlas Mountains gave a welcome mid-stay break from the streets and heat of the city.

Lovely riad, very friendly and safe, a little far from the centre of the city which meant it wasn't easy to pop back to break up the day. Staff very helpful.

Top Tip: When getting taxis back ask for the grand taxi station as the taxi drivers know this and the riad is only a couple of minutes walk from here.
