Property Summary

Location

This Riad has 6 rooms, all unique, with a trendy style and full of conform. Really stylish product. The rooms have a comfortable size as well as the bathrooms. The bathrooms are normally with shower and not bath tub, no extra bed or baby cot are available, rate are based on Habiba and Selouane rooms.

Being a Riad, it does not have its own restaurant but if the client advice in advance the staff can provide with quality food. The breakfast or any other meal can be taken in the room, the patio or the terrace as per client wishes.

The exterior looks like a normal house of La Medina as many other riads. The travellers cannot really see the nice style inside. There is a terrace on the top where to enjoy stunning views of Marrakech.

Riad Amira is comprised of 6 spacious bedrooms with private bathrooms constructed in traditional Moroccan taddelakt. All rooms are decorated with noble and luxurious materials. The central patio is planted with trees and there is a lovely swimming pool. The rooftop terrace has been converted into a solarium and provides deck chairs and a Berber shelter for guests to enjoy. You will appreciate the marvellous views of the famous Koutoubia, the Atlas mountains and the nearby storks relaxing in their nests. Taste the Marakech life and Moroccan hospitality with Saddia and Abdelatif whose only wish is to ensure that your stay is memorable. Advice on where to go and organising excursions is just part of their service. Nice experience. Recommended. (JMG 06/10)

We have just returned from a 3 night break at the Riad Amira. The Riad is incredible....very welcoming and despite the staff speaking very little English, our French got us through!
On arriving at the Kasbah, our taxi dropped us off and we were shown to the Riad by one of the locals...TIP 1 - dont expect to get shown anywhere in Marrakech without them expecting money...we had no small change at this stage and it was all a bit uncomfortable. Once you get the lie of the land, use your map and shrug off the locals, it can feel quite unnerving, they even wanted money for saying hello on two occasions!!
So, back to the Riad!! Once youve got inside it is a completely different world!! Just like the photos, beautiful settings and so traditional... We had the downstairs room next to the courtyard, it was called 'Kaltoum'. It was peaceful, cool and really delightful. We had some ice cold beers on the roof terrace which was a welcome refreshment after our travelling!
Breakfast was delicious, fresh local breads and conserve. Tea, orange juice and either eggs or yoghurts. Dinners and light lunches are available with enough advanced notice however we didnt use these as there were so many restaurants to try....
Tip 2-There is a book in the arrival area of the Riad which lists lovely 4/5* restaurants. We can recommend Cafe Arabe....beautiful roof top restaurant and the kebabs were wonderful! We took a taxi there as didnt really know where it was (20Dirrham/£2) but with a good map it would be easy to find.
We were slightly peeved by the added tax which we had to pay on leaving?? No idea why but we had such a lovely stay, we paid it anyway.
All in all, it is a fantastic Riad and as long as you are prepared for the outside world when you step out, its perfect!!
Tip 3- little shops on the Kasbah are good for water, chocolatr and any sundries you may need.
Also...we paid (200dirrham/£20) for a 10 minute cab journey to the Riad from the airport which is way more than it should be but there are so many cabs when u get there it is easy to jump in and get going!! Dont be alarmed when you land in the Riad and feel like youve been teleported to another world....thats what its all about isnt it!! Enjoy!!

The staff were lovely and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable and were always cheerful and friendly.

Top Tip: The Earth Cafe just off the Square. Delicious and very reasonable vegetarian and vegan food. Very reasonable and enjoyable even if you are neither.

Check-in date:

Riad Amira was lovely. Maybe not so much for the star-rating quality, as for the character & personality of both the pace and the people who worked there. Which is, after all, what staying in a riad is all about.
They were helpful, thoughtful and charged a reasonable amount for dinners/ beers/ wine etc. Antica is a wonderful cook - do eat there one night. But gp hungry!

The Kasbah location was great.

Top Tip: We also loved Le Fondouk, a rooftop restaurant.

The riad was a true oasis in the heart of the kasbah region of the medina. Very efficient and friendly staff, who made you feel very welcome. We would recommend this riad to couples without children, due to the layout of the riad.
