Fantastic Riad in the centre of the old part of Marrakech.
A great base to explore this fascinating city. The main square was only a 10 min walk and there is plenty to see even closer than that.
The staff were brilliant from the moment we arrived with a briefing on how best to enjoy the city and some streetwise tips over mint tea and sweet treats!
Try the traditional home cooked Moroccan dinner one night. Such a feast and a real taste of proper marrakechi cuisine. They also served the best mint tea in town!
The rooms were lovely and amazingly quiet after the buzz of a day in the hustle and bustle.
Lovely roof terrace with a view of the snow capped atlas mountains.
Would defo stay again!
“ Top Tip: Just ask the guys at Riad Jonan they have many recommendations for places to eat, drink and explore. All were great every time!

Room very basic and the bathroom did not have a shower screen so no matter what you did water went everywhere. The floor tiles in the bathroom were appalling and in a really dirty condition. Towels were old and had seen better days and could do with being replaced. Large damp patch in our room not at all acceptable.
The rug in the room was not cleaned at all during our stay. The Riad owner left plenty of Rules regarding payment for anything that is broken or if the rug is marked or stained by us. This was really off putting and made me feel like we were being treated like children. I also noted that the mini fridge in our room contained small bottles of mineral water which the riad charged 10Dh for but this cost 3 Dh at a nearby local shop. Focus was more on making money from the guests rather than making them feel welcome. You were even charged extra if you wanted more breakfast than the set menu which was set rigid from 8.30 to 10.00 only.
“ Top Tip: My top tip is not to let the Riad organize excursions for you as they charge three times more and you really can organize them independently at a fraction of the cost quite easily. When you go to the souks you will see boards advertising these tours and they do a fantastic job so book with confidence.

“ We received a very friendly welcome, complete with mint tea and Moroccan pastrieswhich we had whilst completing the formalities at check-in. Although we had booked a superior room we were immediately upgraded to a deluxe room as it was unoccupied - at no extra cost. we were given a hand drawn map by Hassan the manager and he answered all of our questions and provided suggestions as to places to eat and places to visit etc.
“ Top Tip: A visit to the Majorelle Gardens is definitely worth making.

A beautiful hotel which turned out to be an oasis in the madness of Marrakech.
The staff were superbly attentive, friendly and professional.
The roof top terrace was a welcome sun trap to chill after a busy day in the souks.
Everything I had hoped for in a Riad.
“ Top Tip: Visit the spice market in the Jewish quarter - just as interesting but not so intense as the main souks.

“ I really can't fault this hotel on value for money and politeness of staff. The room I was in though was very cold due to the airconditioner/heater not working properly, however there was a lot of hot water so I just had deep baths to warm up. All in all I would stay there again.

Riad Alhambra
Marrakech
4 Star Hotel
Customer rating from 13 reviews: 9.7 Exceptional
Riad Dar Alhambra is a unique Moroccan guest house ideally suited for families or friends wishing to have the house to themselves! Nestled in the heart of Marrakech in the old medina, next door to the Medersa Ben Youssef and the Marrakesh museum, three minutes from the souks and eight minutes walk from the Jemaa El Fnaa square, the Riad Alhambra is in a great location. Dating from the 16th century the Riad Alhambra has been lovingly and discreetly restored in pure Moroccan tradition. Life revolves around the cool, marble floored patio with an antique fountain in its centre and next to the patio are two delightful 'B'hou' (small, open sitting-rooms), and the traditional, sumptuously decorated Moroccan drawing-room. The rooftop terrace offers splendid views of the Koutoubia, the high Atlas Mountains, and superb sunsets - great for privileged dining and sun bathing! This could be a holiday to remember - book into the Riad Alhambra now.
“ If you are staying in Marrakech then a Riad is really what you should stay in; they are all converted from old houses built round a central courtyard and are in the medina or old town and if you are staying in a riad then I don't believe you could find a more perfect one than the Alhambra.
