“ The staff were pleasant. The breakfast was nice. The location is great, just 2 minutes walk and your on the main square.

Top Tip:
try the local freshly made pancakes from the little side stalls on your walk to the main square. they even add chocolate spread :o)

“ Very tranquil Riad Les Hibiscus (8 rooms only and suitable for quiet people) off the Derb Debachi to the left of Djemma el Fna. The back overlooks a social hall that had musicians banging-on till 2 in the morning which went on for two nights. The muezzins started at about 4. Found it easier to sleep with most shutters closed, then too tired to care. Staff (2 day, 1 night) extremely nice even when going without food and water for fourteen hours every day through Ramadan (Yessine, Fatima and friends - thank you). Recommended stay.
“ Top Tip: Djemma el Fna and the souks are as mad as a bucket of frogs. Beware the insistence of absolutely everybody to make you part with your money. And everybody will. Make sure you get a price first per person or for the party. If you want to barter go as low as possible (don't be afraid to offend) and then raise your price. They will start with an outrageous price anyway. Insist they quote a price first. Food Ok, but 2 of us came back with TD. Suspect humidifiers in the Cafes. Went in the last week of Ramadan so missed the end-of Party. Last market closed at 5 a.m. If you've pre-booked a ride back to the airport check your pick-up place and stamp it on the driver's forehead before he leaves. That way he won't be waiting 200 metres away across the other side of the square a week later. Better to spend in MAD. They take whole euros only but exchange at 10 MAD to a euro in souks and cafes. If I did it again I would not pre-book transfers, but probably pick-up a petit (yellow) taxi, getting the price for the party up-front.

“ Fantastic Riad in the centre of the old part of Marrakech. A great base to explore this fascinating city. The main square was only a 10 min walk and there is plenty to see even closer than that. The staff were brilliant from the moment we arrived with a briefing on how best to enjoy the city and some streetwise tips over mint tea and sweet treats!
