This is a very friendly hotel. The staff are helpful and go out of their way to be of assistance. The restaurant is expensive but the quality of the food is good.
The location is really good: a 20 minute walk from the station or a short tram ride. The main restaurant and bar area of Amsterdam is 2-3 minutes walk away and major shops 5 minutes.
My only critique is that it is very noisy at night: even on the top floors, there is insufficient soundproofing to buffer the sirens, alarms and revellers that persist until around 2am each morning. And I am used to staying in the centre of London!
Also beware that the sofa bed is small: my boys of 8 and 6 ended up in our bed each night after rolling into each other.
I would stay at the Albus again very happily.

“ Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Close enough to the main attractions yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Would recommend it .

First off this is a nice hotel, with modern fittings & decor in a great location close amentities & central amsterdam all with a 5 - 10 minute walk.
One or two things do let it down, firstly the attitude of some of its reception staff, was not very welcoming on first arrival, but after having a bit of a laugh & joke with them, they lighten up. Secondly while the rooms at the front of hotel are nice and comfortable, the lack of double glazing in the windows which can even be a problem for a heavy sleeper like myself, with the noise coming from the street below at 3 or 4am in the morning.
As part of our stay the breakfast which was very nice with a good selection of continental breakfast was included in the price, with the restaurant staff more than helpful, the only issue we had was on the following morning when we had to leave at 7.00am for our flight, as breakfast was only served between 8.00am - 11.00am I asked the reception staff if they could arrange for something to be left for us, only to be told that breakfast is only served between 08:00 - 11:00 by a unhelpful member of staff on the reception.
Amsterdam is a beautiful city to visit & would visit again, & yes i would consider staying at the Albus again, but this hotel does not seem to understand that first impression last.
“
Top Tip:
Ask when booking for a room that is not at the front of the hotel, and if you are from the UK try & make the reception staff when you first arrive.
Be adventerous with your map, cos you will be surprised what you will find. (& I am not talking about the red light district)
