Couldn't really fault it. Ideally situated for our needs. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Top Tip: It was great to be so closely situated to the square where access to all types of restaurants was available.

The hotel room was large and modern. Bathroom well equipped, hair dryer soap etc. Although we booked this hotel for its central location it was incredibly noise at night until the early hours of the morning!

Top Tip: The salt mine tour was very interesting and Auschwitz was incredibly harrowing.

The best thing about this hotel is its position: it's in the middle of the old town, in a pedestrianised area, and slap-bang next to the main square, where everything is happening almost non-stop. If you're lucky, like us, your bedroom window will give you a fantastic parade of Krakow life: people, horses and carriages, dancers, living statues, cyclists, fire-eaters, horses and carriages, violinists, etc. (Don't worry, when you shut your double-glazed windows you can't hear a thing!). Rooms labelled "superior" have been recently refurbished and the ones I saw are of a good size with lovely brand new shower rooms. Minor quibble: no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. But, but, but..............there is a potentially BIG problem with this hotel: it is spread over three different buildings and only one of them has a lift. Our friends were housed in a lovely bedroom (or suite really, as there were two bedrooms), but it was in the attic and five flights up. They lost out when it came to deciding who was going into which bedroom because they only have one bad knee each, and we have two each! So we stayed in the main building and enjoyed the use of the lift. The hotel told me they cannot guarantee that your room will be in the main building, so if stairs are a problem for you, you may decide to give this otherwise great place to stay a miss.

Top Tip: cafes with outside tables line the square, so people-watching over coffee and cake, or dinner and wine is a favourite past-time.
Auschwitz/Birkenau is a must, if for no other reason than to bear witness to the suffering of others. Lots of walking! Oscar Schindler's factory no longer really exists but there is a fantastic museum where it stood, that narrates the story of Poland and Krakow. And the Salt Mines - who knew salt could be so beautiful!? Lots of steps, but they are shallow (you might guess from my reviews that I am not in the first flush of youth, and suffer with bad knees!). There is wheelchair access to the underground cathedral level via a lift (so the bride doesn't have to trudge along the tourist route! Yes, it is a REAL Cathedral!). There are lots of companies offering trips to these sites, they all charge about the same and it's good value for money and saves you messing about with trains/buses. Lastly, take a lot of money - beautiful, hand-made and individually designed jewellery, a lot of amber, other attractive, non-tatty souvenirs to take home and shoes to die for! You have been warned! Enjoy yourself!

The hotel has an excellent location literally yards from the main city square. The rooms have recently been refurbished in contemporary decor and couldn't be faulted. Our room (no 54) fronted the street and was noisy at times but not enough to change our room given the view towards the city square. All in all a grat hotel and location.

Top Tip: The main city square is literally yards from the hotel and a lot of the other attractions are within walking distance.

Wesele Restaurant in the main square is fantastic - remember you will have to pre-book.
