“ Staff superb, very friendly with a good understanding of english. Restaurant need to change the al la carte evening menu to two week, as people booking a fortnight would be bored with the choices. Deluxe suites were beautiful, cleaned every day. Pool well looked after with plenty of sunbeds and parasole's, with indoor pool for those dull days. Spa & gym facilities available. Would highly recommend.

“ Fantastic accommodation and scrumptious food! Very quiet - took us 25 mins to walk to local town - fine when weather not too hot. Didn't seem to be much for kids to do but was fine for us two adults. No entertainment at night, but it was slightly out of season. We went for a complete relax and it was perfect for us!

The accommodation and facilities at the Vale da Lapa are excellent and the staff and customer service are equally impressive.
The only negative is that the resort is a little distance away from the towns of Carvoeiro or Lagoa and therefore a car is a necessity.
“ Top Tip: Restaurante Donato is a two minute walk away from the resort and the food is lovely. The staff are very helpful and are especially good with small children.

“ A fantastic high quality hotel offering beautiful villas within peaceful quiet surroundings. The club house offers good restaurant. Can be crowded at peak times with limited menu. Staff very helpful and polite. A car is a must to get around the area to the beach and off site restaurants and entertainment. That was the reason we picked it for the second time as we wanted a quiet high quality resort.
“ Top Tip: Albufeira is about 15 miles away if you need pubs and night life. Not very close.

We stayed in 3bed villa at the hotel complex, self-catering. Villa was contemporary & design-led and gave a good first impression. However it was definitely NOT 5 star equipped. Private pool to villa not cleaned for our arrival. Keys to terrace doors missing. Not enough crocks/glasses/cookware - e.g. a villa sleeping 6 with only 3 drinking glasses. No potato peeler, no tin opener, no serving dishes, no ovenware. No start-up dishwasher tabs & no salt or rinse-aid. We bought tabs but challenged the lack of salt/rinse aid - to be told by cleaners we were expected to buy that too...for a 1 week stay? We didn't. Large outdoor shared complex pool - unheated. Very small indoor spa pool was heated - but changing facilities very basic and no staff visible to call on. Lockers with broken locks.
The beds at the villa were made daily along with a quick bathroom/floor clean - however there was dirt under sofas on our arrival, spiders web behind WC door, dead flies in 'designer' lampshade over table. And this was at the start of the season when everything should have been perfect.
Basically contemporary glitz design is not enough to warrant 5 stars - they need to do MUCH more. We were very disappointed and felt there was maybe a management problem at the complex.
