Absolutely lovely hotel. Only stayed 1 night on business however, would love to go back.
Check in was slow, the guy on reception seemed new and the whole process took around 40 minutes!
Room was lovely, twin beds, flat screen tv, fridge, ample wardrobe space.
Pool area was lovely & clean. Huge pool with gradual steps to help you get in (especially good for children & the elderly). We saw the staff washing down the pool surroundings in the morning. Pool bar was lovely. Had lunch which was reasonably priced €4.50 for chicken baguette & fries. Wine was cheap at €2.80!
In the evening we asked reception to recommend a good fish restaurant. We went to a local family run place in the old town called Escondidinho which was traditional & rustic, no fancy plates or wine glasses but good quality fish. 2 people had a 3 course meal including wine for €49. The staff couldnt do enough for us.
In summary, my short stay at the Vila Gale was lovely. Just wish I could have stayed longer

Fashion / Art inspired decor is a bit odd.....like they`ve converted a Next store into a hotel overnight. Odd, but not too bad.
Food was good buffet style if you like that kind of thing, the service in the restaurant was good but the bar & reception was very slow at times.
Nicely laid out grassed area with plenty of pool space to choose from.
“ Top Tip: Seafood restaurant opposite the marina " Adega de Marina". Great authentic seafood without any pomp. Rammed with locals & a great atmosphere. 9/10

“ Having visited 3 different hotels during our recent holiday to the Algarve, Vila Gale offers excellent accomodation if not a little strange in decor and lighting. The staff in reception were excellent as were the cleaners. The restaurant offers excellent breakfast, the choice of evening meal however is a little limited at times, but quality always good. Balconies are large but do not offer any form of privacy and very little shade. The hotel grounds and swimming pool are very large and open which attract flocks of seagulls during the quite periods, this causes some mess and nuisance. These points seem negative, however this was the better of the three hotels visited (all 4*) and we would stay here again if we were to visit the Algarve.
