“ Nice apartment complex, would benefit from a facelift though. Not very suitable for anyone wanting night life as there is non close by, but that was o/k by us. Tried the on site restaurant just the once, quality good but a bit pricey, found good restaurants just a short drive away in Santa-Luzia. Found local beach (Barril) great. Visited Portugal many times, but 1st time in the eastern Algarve. Only down side was we were plagued my mosquitoes in the evenings.
“ Top Tip: Local restaurants (Santa-Luzia) serving freshly caught fish dishes at reasonable prices, tried the local speciality of octapus for 1st time.

“ We booked a last minute holiday for a bit of sunshine before the winter set in. The Pedras D'el Rei complex was beautiful and the apartments were ideal and set over a large old olive grove and very well spaced out. The complex had a good supermarket and two restaurants. The hotel runs a small train to the beach across the salt marshes where you see lots of wildlife on the way to the beach where there is a few restaurants and shops.
“
Top Tip:
The train ride across to the beach and the long sandy beaches made our holiday. Going out in Tavira was worth the bus or taxi fare if you've not hired a car.
Our only complaint is we thought we were staying in Tavira but it was a 7 Euro taxi ride or catching the bus which had a very limited service.

We have just returned from a holiday at Pedres d'el Rei and the weather was fantastic. We stayed in one of the basic studio apartments, which was fine for what we required. At £266 for 10 nights we weren't expecting luxury.
This place is perfect for a very relaxing, quiet holiday. The pool and green area around it is lovely and the little train down to the beach is a nice ride. You can also hire golf buggies from reception and visit nearby towns, Santa Luzia and Travia. 5 euros an hour, 20 euros for 24 hours or 35 euros for 48 hours. All you need is your driving licence to then be covered by their insurance. Good to explore the immediate surrounding area and have some fun!
There isn't really any nightlife, but the restaurant, Piano Bar and Cafe bar are ok to spend some time in. As mentioned, this is a place for total relaxation rather than partying. There are more restaurants and a couple of bars in close by Santa Luzia.
“ Top Tip: Restaurante Baixamar do specialty Octopus dishes in Santa Luzia and the owner is very friendly.

The rooms are functional if a litle basic but exceptionally clean, the hotel staf were very courteous and knowledgeable and only too willing to help. the Beach was good but the beach at Tavira a 2euro bus ride even better. loads of bars and resuarants all serving daily caught fresh fish.
overall a fantastic break for a chill out. the complex does however feature mostly portugese owned chalets and studios so be aware that most of the populuos is native.
