“ Top Tip: bella canelas just past angelus for very nice breakfast and top deck ancora steak house second resturant on the right when you go into the strip beautiful steaks on hot stone taxi from hotel to old town 4 euros

“ The swimming pool, as in most Portugese hotels is very cold, however it is superb and well looked after by the staff. There are more than enough very comfortable sunbeds to use and every evening the pool man sets them back into a very impressive Arc, which makes the pool very attractive each evening. There is a snack bar at the far corner of the pool, which is the centre of activity and is very reasonable and has a happy hour from 1700 to 1900. The room we stayed in was comfortable but basic, cooking is only on two hobs, no oven. The staff are both helpful and friendly - all in all a very pleasant stay!!
“ Top Tip: There are several good Portugese restaurants with 10 minutes walk, one is at the top of the Strip called Os Compadres, which does an excellent set tourist menu with sweet coffee and a drink for 8 euro.

“ This was our third visit to the Tropical Sol and we like it here so much that we brought friends with us. The pool is lovely and the pool bar is the cheapest we've ever come across. The place is also spotlessly clean. Surrounding area is nice and quiet but within walking distance to the strip. My only complaint this year was that the hotel had a number of stag parties staying there. Whilst most were very quiet and respectful one large group (who weren't youngsters either) were extremely annoying, taking over the pool/bar area ......This is unusual for this hotel though so lets hope this isn't going to become the norm!
“ Top Tip: Great little bakery round the corner, the rolls are so cheap and tasty. Ideal for a self catering lunch.

“ The hotel was excellent, we couldn't fault it at all. The bar prices were reasonable (2 Euro for a large lager). We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel because we found a reasonably priced place for Euro 1.95 quite close. Maybe reducing the breakfast prices to be more competative could be an idea. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were well cleaned. The size of the rooms is not really apparant on the website, we were mis-lead by the description of studio. Ours was actually a 1 bedroomed apartment with a very spacious living/eating area and a very well equipped kitchen. We have stayed in the Paladin further up the road and the Tropical Sol is far far better
