Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa Hotel

“ A nice clean hotel, food is average the best meal was the breakfast evening meal did not have a lot of choice. The pub needs a re-furb the seating is so uncomfortable, the outside area is very nice pleanty of sun beds, we had a pool view room which was worth paying the extra. The location is very good, 5 minutes from a small shopping mall which has a large supermarket and a ten minute walk down hill to the old town and beach, we hired a taxi back for five euros. We stayed a week on half board and had good weather so all in all an enjoyable time.

“ Loved staying here! Loads of selection at breakfast (who doesn't like to start the day with cake?), nice outdoor pool area, good games room.

The best part is that it's close to the beach and Old Town, which is full of bars and restaurants. We're in our 20s but felt too old for the cheesy Strip - stick to the shore and try the nice restaurant, Ruina.

“ Top Tip: Ruina restaurant built into the ruins of a castle. Gorgeous food and perfect service.
The Florenca cafe across the street (and towards the Strip) makes amazing pastries.
Nice tennis courts attached to the Bellavista sports bar.

“ Firstly I don't think it deserves a 4* rating. Hotel very clean everywhere including bedrooms, beds hard. Food good but poor selection. During our stay the weather was very poor and unfortunately not much to do in the hotel. A bar replicating a British pub with tv,s showing continuous football. The only entertainment was a parrot show, which didn't turn up until 11pm. A good feature though was the indoor pool. I would not return to this hotel.

“ Top Tip: The old town is nice, with some unusual shops with handmade jewellery. The next hotel to ours had a wonderful patisserie, well worth a visit beautiful cakes.
