This charming modern hotel, which was renovated in 2005, is situated on a mountainside, and offers a panoramic view of the hills and valleys of the Algarve's coastline. It is the optimal setting to enjoy a spectacular sunset view. There are 30 rooms in total. It is air-conditioned and has a lobby with 24-hour reception, 24-hour check-in/check-out service, hairdressers' salon, bar, games room, restaurant, conference facilities and Internet access, as well as room and laundry services (the latter subject to fees). Parking facilities are available to guests arriving by car.Alte is a typical Portuguese village, one of the most beautiful in the country, and is situated on the edge of the Serra do Caldeireo in the inland Algarve, 45 km from Faro airport and 25 km from Loule. Restaurants, bars, shopping opportunities, links to public transport and the bus station can all be found nearby.The hotel bedrooms offer guests a charming atmosphere, individually-adjustable air conditioning and heating, cable TV, radio, direct dial telephone, Internet access, mini fridge, double bed and en suite bathroom with hairdryer. Use of the in-room safe is subject to fees. Balconies and terraces also feature.Guests may take advantage of the outdoor pool with sun parasols. A sun terrace, tennis courts, mountain biking and pool/snooker also feature. The nearby beach comes with sun loungers and parasols.From Faro, go to Loule, taking the 1st or 2nd exit for Loule. Arriving at Modelo Roundabout, turn left for Parragil, and then go through Benafim before reaching Alte. From Lisbon, take the A2 road as far as Seo Bartolomeu de Messines (Algarve), then go towards Salir and Barranco do Velho. Alte is about 7 km away from this point.

The rooms in the Hotel were tired, they needed some TLC. No kettle & no fridge. Wardrobes were very narrow, a safe was inside them & I presume there was a charge for the usage.
Rooms were comfortable & we asked for a room with a view which was obligingly organised for us, (try to get a room on the second floor) the views are stunning. There are lots of walking routes for the energetic. It was a little too far from the town for us to walk, with quite a steep climb to the hotel.
The staff were very friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A pleasant bar area inside & out. A standard buffet continental breakfast wasself service. Although we chose not to eat at the Hotel in the evening many people did which is always a good recommendation.
“ Top Tip: Ask for a room with a view, preferably on the second floor. We had a superb reasonably priced evening meal at Restauant Bar 'O Folklore'. Visit the nearby Fontes for pleasure. Small interesting town to browse & sit people watching. Drive up the mountains for spectacular views.

Not suitable for younger people, no live entertainment.
Isolated location in the hills, next to really nice village/town.
Very friendly & helpful staff.

Top Tip:
Nothing specific, just a really nice area.
Need a hire car to travel to the coast, nice beaches once away from the concrete jungles & English bars.

“ Lovely hotel, beautiful setting in the hills, friendly and helpful staff. Obviously aimed at the more mature traveller. Access to hotel reception is only available via lift from bar area, no vehicle access to main hotel reception area. Needs to be made clear that it is in the Loule area, and not in Loule itself.
“ Top Tip: Enjoy the views and tranquility, with dinner in the hotel restaurant.
