“ We visited out of season (Feb) but couldn't believe what great value for money these apartments were - around £14 a night for a 2-bedroom apartment when we booked! Spotlessly clean with everything provided - full kitchen equipment including toaster, microwave and coffee machine, fluffy bath and pool towels, good air conditioning/heating and patio furniture. Staff very friendly and helpful - receptionist recommended a great fish restaurant. Lovely swimming pool - too chilly when we were there but pleasant sunbathing area with sunbeds, with bar open later in the season. Immediate surroundings a bit scruffy but this is a real village with local bars and handy minimart close by, and there is a nice old town with lovely promenade, beach and cliff walks a few minutes drive away. Prices are very reasonable here (in low season at least!)

Top Tip:
Beautiful beach at Lagos with boat trips further along, at the bottom of the cliff. Scramble down the steps at the car park area to the left of the little bar where the road ends! Almovada fish restaurant near the beach is great - not as cheap as some but well worth it!
You must let them know if you're arriving late or reception will be closed (not made clear on travel republic webpage but we emailed the villas as we were arriving on a late flight). Our key was left out for us and a mobile no. emailed to us in case of problems.

“ I found Villas Barrocal Hotel to be excellent.. It was only a two night stay by myself, in a very large, very clean, comfortable 2 bed appartment. The staff that I met were very very helpful & friendly..I would be more than happy to return.
“ Top Tip: The hotel is in a small town about 2 miles from the beach, so ideally a car is needed. Car hire in the Algarve is cheap & its easy to drive over there..Portugal is a beautifull place, so I really do recommend hiring a car & getting off the beaten track, especially driving along the wilder western coast.

“ The apartment was very clean, well equipped and large. It was cleaned regularly and the staff were very friendly. It was quiet and we had a great balcony. We would go back there and thoroughly recommend these holiday apartments/villas. Had a great time there.

“ Top Tip: We agreed with the representation of the Passion of Christ. It is a very recommendable in the center of Pera and Palm Sunday. Impressive.
