“ If you are looking for a quick break no frills then this hotel is for you very clean and the staff were very good. But as for a holiday base there are no rooms with a balcony, also it has no pool or sun terrace.

We have visited the Hotel Globo several times, always in Feb/Mar. It is invariably quiet then, which is either a good or a bad thing depending on your preference. On occasion we were the only guests taking an evening meal! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are well presented and scrupulously clean. Our room had a fabulous cosy bathroom, with a constant supply of hot water.
The best thing about it is the panoramic view of the river and old town from the 6th floor restaurant. A beautiful modern bar on the floor above also shares these views. One down side is the whiff from the river which sometimes pervades the corridors of the hotel, but we got used to it.
It will not be our last visit to the Globo - great value for money, good food and in an excellent location.

Top Tip:
The Globo benefits from being within walking distance from Portimao rail station and just up the road from the bus station. We used public transport frequently to get into the mountains, to Lagos and other local places of interest. It is just a one mile walk down river to Praia da Rocha for some of the best beaches in the Algarve.
A small bar next to the hotel is perfect for a "tea-time" drink and a cake, run by a very nice man with good English.
Local sardine restaurants are also close by.
