Kings Hotel

“ These apartments are in a residential quarter of the town, but are only a 5 minute walk to beautiful sandy beaches. Similarly the local stores are an 8 minute walk and larger supermarkets are a short bus ride away. The complex is 2 minutes from the town's bus depot and local services are excellent. The town has a good slection of restaurants, mainly serving portugese cuisine -beautiful fish!

The apartments are close to a local senior school and there are young people around mid afternoons. The apartments are privately owned and managed and are older in style, but the whole complex is spotlessly clean and the apartments themselves are tidy. They are thoroughly cleaned twice a week. The management and staff all speak excellent English and are very helpful. The pool area is at the rear of the property and is in excellent condition.

I would whole heartedly reccomend staying here as they are excellent value for money.

“ Top Tip: Excellent express rail & coach services to Lisbon. Quarteria is not really a holiday resort, more a town with beautiful beaches, so do not expect Torremolinos!

“ Just to make it clear - Kings Hotel is the same place as Kings Apartments. We were so happy to be back there for the second time. We were in a small studio this time with balcony in the shade (athough not a lot of sunshine at this time of year). However, we still had 4 burners & an oven & all necessary kitchen equipment. Good, hot shower & extra blankets & heater if needed. The cleaner called in regularly.

The view from the front of the building may put you off as it isn't pretty or well kept, but the local people are very friendly & there's a nearby supermarket & Wednesday veg market. The apartments are abolutely secure with 3 separate keys for entry & shutters on all doors & windows, plus locking sliding doors & windows.

Most places closed at the end of October after a Halloween party at Futurama Bar/Restaurant, but we found a fabulous little bar with happy hour prices all night (Cool Cod) in Vilamora. We then went on to The 19th Hole Bar on the Marina to dance to live music. What a brilliant holiday despite the weather, can't wait to go back. I don't think you'd get better anywhere than at The Kings for self catering. The pool is great & there's never been more than about 7 people at any one time, although only the brave had a dip in the cooler weather.

“ Top Tip: Ask for an apartment at the front of the building (ie not facing the pool) if you want a balcony which gets some sunshine. Check out the Futurama Bar/Restaurant for 'buy one get one free' pints and good choice of food, including vegetarian. It's cheap taxi ride to Vilamora to visit the Cool Cod bar with really friendly staff & its golfing customers & good music. The 19th Hole Bar definitely has the best bands to have a good dance to & very friendly customers & staff also.

“ Mostly very good, reception staff excellent. The only thing we had trouble with was the lock on the door but got the hang of it eventually. The pool area was very good. It was a very short walk to the bus station and beach. We found a good wee pub which played the "Golden Oldies" a minutes walk away. The apartment was well equipped but would benefit with the addition of a toaster.

“ once we got there found the apartment clean, big and spacious. But no good for young couples or young groups as there is no clubs or entertainment nearby.
