Dona Filipa And San Lorenzo Golf Resort Hotel

“ We have been visiting this Hotel about every two years for fifteen years. Its saving graces are its location near the magnificent beach and the fabulous San Lorenzo Golf Course. Otherwise it is tired and not up to its five star rating. It is not as good value as it used to be with the standard buffet dinner now nearly doubled in price to Euro 49 excluding wine. Luckily there are still many reasonably priced restaurants nearby.
Staff are friendly and helpful. One always feels welcome.

“ Top Tip: Costs can be cut at this hotel by booking a golfing package. Our guess is that over 50% of guests are golfers.

“ we really enjoyed our stay. Majority of the hotel staff were really friendly, spoke good english.

“ Top Tip: The oriental restaurant is pricey but it is very tasty and the service is great.

“ The hotel is advertised as 5 star but I would doubt it would receive a 5 star grading in the UK. The external decor is somewhat 'tired' along with some of the furnishings. The rooms are comfortable although the air conditioning was difficult to adjust. All of the staff I met were very attentive and professional. The breakfast in the main restaurant caters for all tastes but the daily variation in the evening dinner menu wouldn't suit everybody. Overall I found the hotel generally suitable for my needs.

“ This is my second stay at the hotel. The location is perfect and the hotel is clean and the staff very welcoming.
Only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that is is probably in need of some TLC.

“ Top Tip: Monty's bar & restaurant always has a great apmosphere and the live band are great! It's had a recent makeover which has brought it more up to date, & the DJ area is in a better location inside.
