Dom Pedro Portobelo Hotel

“ We had a studio with balcony & sea view which was adequate, it had 2 single beds, 2 sofa beds, loads of crockery, microwave, 2 hot plates kettle & fridge. Maid service everyday with clean towels & tea towel & toilet rolls, the place was kept spotless inc the pool area, weather was bad while we were there but plenty to do, ie casino across the road which you can just call for a drink to (1 euro for a small beer ) lots of eating places & bars to visit, vilamoura is very family friendly & safe resort and no steep hills like the rest of portugal, would def come back to the portobello.

“ This hotel is perhaps more traditional than others, certainly more quiet, which suited myself.
Facilities were very good in restaurant and bar.
Outdoor pool area a little dated.
Room was Very Clean, furniture rather dated but no problem.
for Self catering, the access to socket outlets for kettle, iron, microwave and toaster etc was all at low level with short leads, which may be difficult for older couples.
I would return to this hotel without hesitation even though it does not present itself as well as some of the more modern hotels in this area.

“ Hotel is about 20mins from FARO Airport depending on traffic. Reception is accessible from what appears to be the back of the hotel as it overlooks a car park but it is actually the front. The entrance is poorly lit & needs to be freshed up. However inside is rather nice and staff seem helpful (we never had much dealings with them so hard to tell).

We travelled end of Feb/Early March 2012 and so out of season. The hotel was not busy at all and we got good apt. on 6th floor - room 619 - Sea view.

Apts. are spacious but the bed was too hard - real hard ! Balcony was huge.

Vilamoura is lovely but expensive out of season would hate to see what its like in season ! Marina is nice.

Overall Hotel is a VERY GOOD 3 STAR - NOT A 4 STAR !!


We also got stung for 22 Euros for breakfast - definately not worth it.

Vilamoura nice for a short break but unless doing day trips not for a long stay !

“ Top Tip: Hotel 6th floor - although not for toddlers as balcony has big gaps between railings !

Cheaper restaurants in Vilamoura town away from Marina !

Nice cafe for snacks & drinks down front of beach near the Crowne Plaza (which i would stay in if coming back !)
