“ Wonderful historic hotel - liked it so much, we didn't bother to leave to visit Coimbra town. Excellent restaurant if somewhat expensive. Noisy room guests above us though - managed to rearrange furniture both at 2am and 5am - would request top floor rooms if staying again.
“ Top Tip: The hotel restaurant - best meal in Portugal - and we've visited Portugal 15 times.

You book thinking you are stopping in the old house but end up staying in the modern annex over 100 metres away.
I think you should be informed where your rooms are as it could spoil your visit to this hotel.At first we was dissappointed because the new building is such a contrast to the old house,but the architecture and ambience seem to work and we will book again.
The staff are all very friendly and speak perfect english the hotel is spotlessly clean and the Breakfast as got to be one of the best I've had abroad.

Top Tip:
Taxis cost 5 euro's into town and all drive like they are in a race.
A new foot bridge as been built over the river and makes access into the town and bars along the river very accessable by foot.
The Irish bar over the River was the place to be at night with live music on both nights of our stay.
