This hotel is very pleasant, but not really five star.
Rooms are sizeable, but we paid extra for a sea -view with balcony, but unfortunately, most of the balconies are in the shade all day!!
Food is average, with a good choice at breakfast.
Housekeeping services could be better for five star.
“ Top Tip: Great restaurant in the fort at the end of the bay.

The Cliff Bay Hotel is more like 4 star than a 5 star. Although the staff were very friendly and the breakfast very good. I thought the service around the pool was non - existant. The hotel boast of a kids club again this did not exist, so I was mis-lead when booking this holiday. My 2 boys had nothing to do and both were very bored. The weather was not great which made it very hard to keep my boys occupied. They had no play room for elder boys only a toddler room. The play station they had to put in the bedrooms was very old and dated. Need I say more the holiday was not as I expected it is somewhere I shall never return to.

“ Excellent facilities and superb staff, who were all very welcoming, remembered items from day to day, and had superb linguistic skills. The food was brilliant, both the breakfast buffet and a la carte in the evenings - we did not try the evening buffets as we could not face the quantities, but they looked good. The Gym was very well supplied, and the indoor pool and associated spa facilities excellent. We also found som eof the free attractions - Portugese lesson, wine tasting, very good, and a useful extra.
“ Top Tip: Tokos Restaurant - just outside the gate, and a magnificent standard of cuisine, and a most welcoming / entertaining chef in Filipe

“ There's not much wrong with this hotel apart from not being cheap. Staff are very helpful and courteous. It's situated in a very nice spot with most rooms having a view of the sea. Rooms are spacious and kept clean with very adequate bathroom facilities. Some pool-side areas can get a bit congested but there are two pools with plenty of alternative space to get away from it all. Although we didn't have lunch or dinner in the hotel, breakfasts offered a lot of choice. Not perfect (for example, the bacon tended to be undercooked), but you can order an omlette of your choice and eat enough to keep you going almost until the evening. Generally, the hotel is very quiet and tranquil and if you are looking for a genuinely peaceful break, this is the place to be.
“ Top Tip: Casa Italia restaurant. Very friendly and well cooked Italian food.
