Dorisol Mimosa Hotel

“ staff is not friendly - staff from the restaurant is always to busy and confused to talk to you properly; a gentleman who looked to be a manager approached the customers (several, including me and an elderly couple) by asking your room number; NO GREETINGS!!!I also had to explain several times that I bought half-board and I didn't need to pay the only drink I asked for because it was included.
Staff from the bedrooms: very rude and not able to give directions within the hotel in their own mother tongue!!!! Several times I had to request the feet rug that it was missing from the bathroom - only to find two cleaners smoking and having a break at the emergency stairs!!! And during ten nights at the hotel I only had one tiny little soap put in my bathroom.
Meal times were complicated. The reception informed the customers that breakfast was ready at 7am. This depends on the waiter! On 13th September the coffee machines were on but the only thing to spread the bread was butter - 10 minutes waiting for the jams/cheese. At the evening meals, total caos - self-service but with booked tables for some guests !?!. The food had no names: only meat, fish but what type of fish? and how it was cooked? - nothing!

“ Top Tip: The best of the hotel was the location - Lido avenue. Loads of shops to book walks and visits around the island; also supermarket with a very good and cheap restaurant and a shopping mall called Forum Madeira.

“ hotel clean ,good breakfast,indoor out door swimming pools ,but on very steep hill,good value for money.

“ Facilities were excellent and the food was exceptional, the staff were very helpful. The courtesy bus to funchal centre from the hotel was very useful.

Unfortunately the rooms could do with some major improvement, they were a bit outdated and rather cramped for two adults and one child. Rather disappointing. Also their were two single beds not one double. The furniture was basic and the shower head kept on falling down. Also when the next room were having a shower there was a loud noise comming fron the pump and the I could hear the vibration. The beds were hard but the staff did fix this with some bed sponge.
Also more cutlery could have been provided.

Sorry will not be using this hotel again.

“ Top Tip: A pub resturant not far from the hotel was excellent.

“ I was travelling alone Hotel room large clean and very comfortable with a kitchenette (unexpected!) and own balcony. Good value for money. Usual Hotel facilities you would expect were present including large open air pool and sunlounge area and smaller indoor pool also. Good location for Funchal centre and lots of other restaurants in immediate area.

Two comments. Hotel entrance located at top of very steep hill so tough walk required which older people might find difficult although usually buses and taxis took people right up to entrance.

Shower control in my Room 403 protuded from the wall so that you could easily turn off the shower unintentionally when showering and the "hot/cold" indicatiors were incorrect. Despite my best efforts the shower also tended to flood into the bathroom.

“ Top Tip: Moumental Shopping Centre close to hotel has Madeira Magic Tours on ground floor which is highly reccomended for tours and levada walks. Also has newsagent next door where you can buy and top up a GIRO bus pass for use on the yellow urban buses.
