“ Hotel is of exceptional modern design sitting in a magnificent garden located in a central part of Funchal. The location is quiet.
The hotel including bedrooms and public areas are kept to a high standard.
Breakfasts are superb. Limited menus for Lunch and Dinner and are expensive. As
such we recommend booking in for B&B only as there are many restaurants available locally.
Warning this hotel is not suitable for wheel chair users or those difficult in walking as there are no lifts. Restaurant areas are in separate buildings and access to them is very difficult due to difference in levels and rough garden paths that lead to them.

“ Top Tip: A fantastic restaurant about 7 minutes walk away called L' Osteria at Rua Casa Branca No 63. Tel 291 768 358 . Mediterranean style food and the attention to detail places it above other restaurants.

“ This is an excellent "boutique hotel". Only 43 rooms with very attentive staff. Set in beautiful gardens and not too far from the centre of Funchal (15 minutes walk) - although the uphill return might tempt you to use the bus or a taxi! The breakfast is brilliant and sets you up for a day walking the levadas or just lazing by the pool or taking exercise in the health centre with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. At the end of the day the dinner is a bit expensive but there are a number of very good and inexpensive restaurants a short (5 mnute) walk away. Very relaxing, very quiet, very good!!

“ Top Tip: Try the restaurant Frango da Guiia (should be Guia - but is a typing error!) where the chicken piri-piri is as good as the original in Guia on the Algarve.

“ We spent our honeymoon at Casa Branca - celebrating our civil partnership, and were made to feel so very welcome by all the staff. Their friendly, welcoming, polite & efficient service, has left us with very many happy memories of our time spent in Madeira and especially at Casa Branca. Nothing was too much trouble, and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at ease during our stay with them (something not all hotels / services achieve for gay guests). They provided complimentary welcome champagne and also extra suprise bottles for each of us on our birthdays respectively, which we also celebrated during our weeks stay. Food was excellent, along with service, and rooms very comfortable and generous with space & privacy. The bar service available when wanted, and afternoon tea & cake on the bar terrace a must do relaxing experience (and at 13 Euros for 2 - much more reasonable than Reids Palace 31 Euros each!). The hotel itself was stunning, set in outstanding gardens of a former Quinta, and although ideally placed near the old town of Funchal (easy walking distance - taxi back uphill!) was exceptionally calm and peaceful. An ideal place to getaway and relax... ideal for couples / honeymooners / or just wanting a quiet relaxing break.

“ Top Tip: A collection of bars and restaurants just at the bottom of the hill (left out of the hotel) along the main road, offerring a wide selection of food choices / budgets. We ate at several!
