Fantastic Hotel....I paid for a Junior Suite and I want it as a Retirement Flat.
All staff, Maids, Waiting Staff, Reception & Bar were brilliant.
The Gardens were better than the Botanical Gardens and deserve the prizes they win for them. My wife told me the food was very good, I can't comment on that as I don't even eat much at home, but I always found something for me.

“ This is my second visit to Porto mare hotel, and I would like to say it is a most lovely hotel the rooms are great also the gardens and views.The staff are so helpfull nothing is too much trouble,The hotel is situated near Funchal which is a nice city to visit. I would recommend this hotel I think it should be 5* not 4*

Exceptionally good hotel, in every way.
Could be the best we've ever stayed in?
Had to get our key-cards re-activated on a couple of occasions which was a little inconvenient.
Please be sure to keep this hotel on your site/in the options so we can book again with you.We would not go to Madeira again unless we could stay in this hotel.

Nice comfortable clean hotel with good facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Lovely gardens.
Only comment is that restaurant prices rather expensive. Also evening buffet meals were inadequate if you go for your meal about 1 hour to 30 mins before the restaurant closes. some of dishes that were finished were not refilled. But having said that, the breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of choice.

Top Tip:
Casa Madeirense restaurant which is nearby is fabulous, worth a visit, nicely laid out and great atmosphere.
Wine shop Campos & Guerra, also nearby on Estrada Monumental, has a great selection of drinks and at reasonable prices. Very friendly advice from the staff.
Yellow Bus sightseeing trips a bit expensive for what you get. Better to go by taxi if about 4 people share.

A really well run hotel with very good staff and excellent breakfasts. The gardens and pool are exceptionally good. Our room was very clean, with massive and comfortable beds.
Only minor gripe was the broadcast (Michael Buble) music from the garden which was obtrusive, though it didn't last long.

Top Tip:
The local restaurants we tried were pretty ordinary, but there were other to choose from.
A pleasant coastal walk starts nearby.
