Enotel Quinta Do Sol Hotel

“ We really enjoyed our relaxing stay, staff were friendly. It is in a good location, with a easy walking distance of the town. The bus stop is close by & runs fairly often. Breakfast was plentiful, with good coffee.

“ We stayed at this hotel last year and were pleased to see it hadn't changed, although it is now part of the Enotel chain. The staff are Madeiran and very competent and patient with us Brits. The room was comfortable with a view over the sea and we could see the cruise ships coming in and out, the bathroom was very well designed. The buffet breakfasts were good and set us up for the day.
We didn't take advantage of the entertainment, except for enjoying the Madeiran folk dancers on Thursday nights.
The Enotel Quinta do Sol is not pretty, but it is welcoming, conveniently placed and fantastic value for money, we would recommend it to anyone.

“ Top Tip: We ate almost every evening at the Chalet Restaurant, as we had last year, and the super staff recognised us right away.
This time we used the 7-day Giro bus tickets, which you purchase at the kiosk in town, you can get a whole week's entertainment just riding the Funchal bus system.

“ This was my 5th stay at the Quinta do Sol, so, obviously I like it! It's a very friendly hotel where the staff remain the same and make you feel really welcome. It's relatively small so guests do receive the best of attention and it's easy to make friends with fellow guests. For the most part guests are "mature" but certainly full of go! Most of them give the Levadas a good go! It enjoys an excellent position with a lovely view of the sea and Reids Hotel and is ideally placed for walking down to the port or heading off in the opposite direction towards the Lidos and a wonderful promenade walk down to the tunnel by the beautiful Doca do Covacos fish restaurant through to Camara da Lobos, a picturesque fishing village loved by Winston Churchill. Looking forward to my next visit!

“ Top Tip: The Doca do Covacos (see above) is well worth the walk: the views from it are beautiful!
Funchal is full of the most fascinating sculptures - everywhere you go!
The old town is full of really interesting doors painted with the most fascinating scenes, some of which would interest the elusive Banksy!
Santa Catarina park is a 5 minute walk away and is stunning as is the Governor's garden next door.
